Great job of writing this using dialogue. I like the way you presented the callers with their differing views about guns and their roles in the violence. People can't get it through their heads that it's the people, mostly the gang members, doing the shooting and killing. Blaming other states, the NRA, etc. won't stop these villains from getting guns. In countries where people aren't allowed guns, they still find ways to kill. Although the public doesn't hear much about it, some of these crazies use knives as well. I like the radio host's thoughts on the subject. judi

This story is excellent. It's well written and makes its point clearly. It isn't the guns that kill. It's the people. We have a gun. It has been used once in all the time we have been married. We live in the country. An animal came into our yard and it was acting strange. My husband thought it might be rabid so he got our dog and out children inside the house and then he shot it. If we hadn't had a gun, we would have had to call 911 and who knows how long it would have taken someone to come and take care of the problem. Guns can be used in a rational way if the people who have them are rational.

I love the picture. I love the story. The man was so right. We have to keep from blaming every one else when some one kills with a gun. Killing is wrong. We should teach our kids to be responsible for what they do. Kids that have crossed the line to killing do not have a good moral code. You can not blame single mothers or poverty. Great work. Good luck with the contest.

It's true. Nothing funny about this story. I use the VA in Maywood, Hines, and many blacks, young, and old, tell me they're afraid. Black people need to wake up, and the Mayor, and the rest of the Democrats that run this city need to start looking seriously at the truth, and serious solutions. Kenny

This is thought provoking and the dialogue is well written, but somehow it reads to me more like a piece of social commentary where the dialogue is a second thought, just the vehicle used to convey the message, and not the star of the show. Brooke :-)

An excellent story told in only dialogue! Good luck to you in the contest. I found not a single error in the piece. This is a serious and political topic. I live in Canada and even here we discuss the American stand on weapons and possession of weapons. I find the whole thing very disturbing. But as the D.J. says, it's time to get real and figure this issue out.

No, you can't be writing this sort of thing you'll, be throwing everyone's political agendas off. Interesting thoughts, but nobody wants to hear this sort of thing, as you said it's a conspiracy by the man, and the man loves it. Great entry for the contest.
