Hi Debi,
I loved the consonance of S sounds in the lines with, "light's mystic, disguise, fairies seek, candle's precious prize." I also thought you did a great job building this story within the parameters of the contest. "Sleeping parents, beware!" You've given them all fair warning, lol. Best of luck with this entry, Bill

Thank you for the great review, Bill. I appreciate you pointing out the consonance of the S sounds. It kind of adds to the sinister feel, doesn't it? Thank you for the good luck wishes and watch out for the fairies. Debi

Excellent pantoum sonnet in form, meter, and rhyme. The repeating lines fit extremely well when dropped into each succeeding verse. Your closing couplet works very well to summarize and emphasize the theme of your poem. Unfortunately in our world today, lurking strangers seem to have found ways around our doors and windows.
Sorry I am out of sixes, but good luck in the voting booth.
All the best,
Rodger

Pantoum Sonnet contest entry 'Beware Tonight.' This is an excellent poem you have created here in which the fairies got very busy, and gave you a lot of writing to complete. Well done.

Uh, oh, there goes my last sixer for the week.

I am just trawling through all the entries for this contest and this one caught my eye by virtue of being different in subject and superbly constructed as well. I liked the subtle change of meaning you give to the repeating lines and the light-hearted yet somewhat spooky changeling topic - just as well no-one can snatch your poem and leave a clunker in its place!

Thank you so much for giving this poem your last six, Steve. I appreciate it. We only get a handful each week so it means a lot to get one.

I appreciate the flattering comments about the writing and construction of the poem. I am happy you enjoyed reading it.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review--and watch out for fairies tonight. Debi

Lovely, lovely work in this difficult but so beautiful Pantoum Sonnet. Compelling lines, such as this "A changeling child is what the fairies seek."

A really well done poem. It was a little repetitive, though that may have been done on purpose so I didn't take off a star for it. I love the subject matter and remember a book series that mentioned changeling (the Infernal Device series) which made this even more interesting to me.

Thank you for the kind comments and shiny stars, Tegan. Yes, this form requires a lot of repetition. Lines 2 & 4 from the first stanza become lines 1 & 3 for the 2nd stanza. Lines 2 & 4 from the second stanza become lines 1 & 3 for the 3rd stanza. The ending couplet lines are exactly the same as lines 1 & 3 from the first stanza.

I love the Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices. The author researches her myths. Every time I question something she has introduced, I can find she has based on a legend that exists.

Dear Debi - I'm not sure on this format, but I can say I loved how you crafted this one. I really loved the whimsy feel, the mystical imagery was wonderful.
Nice strong rhyme and good luck.

W.j.debi, I consider this an exceptional Pantoum sonnet That is so well written but I have no suggestions to offer. The metering and Tempo is written so well that your rhythm and flow smoothly throughout your poem while you are writing is neither force nor labored and helps with this rhythm that flow so well. Good luck in the contest for this is an exceptional entry for winning. An interesting concept which I enjoyed the story so well what tale is it may be. Thank you for sharing and posting of May all your endeavors be good ones.
