Amazing how magicians can keep us so entranced, even when we know that everything they do is trickery. No matter how many times we watch them, it's always interesting.
Nice poem and presentation, Debbie.
Hugs,
Lois

A beautifully written poem about the three ringed circus an all the excitement, hypnotism, irony that goes with it! Great descriptive language, a nice easy flow. Good rhyme and near rhyme! Well done, Debbie, blessings, Roy.

The magician and the politician have much in common: they both have to draw our attention away from what they are really doing. :):)

What fun! And what a coincidence. I just wrote three chapters in a row all about a magic show, and Ginger stars in the last of them. I personally never liked magicians. The tricks seemed to be all the same old stuff that I saw long ago on Ed Sullivan. Maybe they have some new ideas now, but certainly not magic cameras that can turn people into animals. :)

Yes, your magic camera certainly beats the 'same old thing'. Your writing inspired this poem. Thank you, my friend~Debbie

This is a very nice poem, Debbie. It's quite unique and very different from what you usually write.
As I wind down a day,(in seeing that's it's a bit after midnight), I find the subject of your poem quite fitting.
You see - This weekend I am running a Freebie promotion for the eBook version my novel, Hopeless Love on Amazon.com. ... And to my surprise (and in a way like magic), I discovered a few minutes ago that not only was over 100 copies of it downloaded in the past 24 hours - it was downloaded in 8 different countries.
Needless to say, ... I'm shocked! JW

A wonderful blending of color, art work and verse that places the reader in your audience. Aside from television, don't think I've ever seen a real magic show.

The magic of legerdemain never ceases to amaze! It makes children of us all again as once more we willingly suspend our disbelief. I went to a magic show at the Adelaide Festival last month and was once again entranced. Your poem describes the sense of excitement and anticipation well. One almost feels as if one is there with you at the show!

I enjoyed this fun poem about a magician. From the description you placed at the beginning, I understand you're aiming for 8 syllables per line. Is that every line? If so, I think there's a few lines with a couple of extra syllables:
"If only in the magic you could see" - I count 10 syllables
"The audience is having some fun" - I count 9 syllables
"While the musician's music does play" - I count 9 syllables
"Dogs are dressed up doing ballet" - Not only a fun image, but my favorite line in the poem.
And a quick suggestion for changing the last line a bit. What if you said:
"Vanishing from stage oh so quick"? I think it makes the line read stronger than using the word "very".
Thank you for sharing.
