A very well-written chapter for your book. It is amazing how much we can remember about our first emoloyment after many years.
You were lucky to learn so much about all the different musical instruments.

Thanks Sandra I meant to do the Revive thing on this but I used all my Member dollars up on the next chapter, by mistake, so I had to pay real dollars for this one.

Well, this was an interesting read about having a boss that wasn't the easiest to please, and could possibly blow-up over a laugh & didn't have the capacity of realising not every day does one have the privilege of being a passenger in a Rolls-Royce, and most likely he was fairly rich, I guess he thought himself to be in his own little world.
Oh, we have pot-pies here, with various meats mixed with veggies & gravy in a pie crust and I get some specialty ones from a food service delivered to my house & think to be as good as possibly your Australian meat pies... unlike the frozen ones from the grocery store here which aren't good at all...Or homemade pot-pies I think are the best...and malts over milkshakes for me.
Thanks for sharing...Caressa_08

Hehe Sis thanks for coming by. I used up all my stock of member dollars on the next chapter by mistake so actually had to PAY REAL Dollars to promote this one for one more time. Am finally learning about the pot pies from several of you. Thanks for that. Appreciate you coming by.

I like the pictures! It's not every day a man falls into another man's arms. LOL It's nice you got to work at this business - JSJ. We do have pot pies here in the U.S. They are pretty good!

Yes Sis getting a lot of comment on the Pot Pies. I originally made the mistake of just stating pies...and everyone especially from'Up Over' thought I was talking about Mice Pies, yuck! Accidentally put chapter after this one up with the last of my Member Dollar stock so I had to PAY more real dollars for this one! Bleah! Thanks again.

I think you had a wonderful opportunity at age 17 to get to work at J. Stanley Johnson. You put your skills and interest in music to work, too. Interesting descriptions of the buildings in the area and the food. The U.S. has pot pies, made with a pie crust and meat and vegetables as well as a broth. I like chicken pot pie. These aren't fried, as yours may be. You certainly made the most of your experiences. judi

I think our Meat pies are like your POt pies...trouble was everytime IMmentioned pies people thought I meant fruit mince I HAT FRUIT MINCE PIES! Yack!
-
You're welcome. When I was a kid, we had mince pies, usually for holidays. They certainly aren't in favor now. They actually had meat in them. judi
-
Ha there is a brand that does mince meat in the pies yuck.
-
I saw the commercially made mince for pies in the supermarket but that was years ago. No meat in it. judi

I really appreciate the painstaking details, interesting pictures and fabulously written piece, gosh you have had it hard, and I mean, hard, at a time where there was nothing to fall back on and people worked for every red cent and I respect that so much. You mix so many wonderful flavours into your writing, it is outstanding and I so enjoyed this, very kind regards Meia :)

Thanks Meia appreciate you coming by. I had intended to use my "Member Dollars " for this chapter but I accidnetally weent ahead and used them on the next chapter...so I had to PAY for some more for this one. I try and reciprocate and review others work to get the member dollars so I can put these oldies (that have been re-edited) out one mor time before I go to Self-Pu8blishing. Thanks again. Will look for your stuff too.

Because I get up in a similar era I find your story, ( biography) as incredibly interesting, the fact you worked in a music is fascinating, working in a retail job was extremely organic. When I was 17 I worked in a supermarket, doing shelf stacking and grocery deliveries, when a large Woolworths opened nearby the competition proved intolerable and I got the sack. There were lots of jobs for young folk back then, so employment was easy to obtain. Well done, bro, excellent story, blessings, Roy

Thanks Bro appreciate you coming by I thought you would have come through here before. I loved the old corner stores. You would have seen my 2 half days at Franklins a ways back. did you have Franklins in Sa I thin you lived, right? I made a mistake I had intended to use my stock of member Dollars to get this one up again for a final review but I ended up haveing to BUY extra Dollars for this one as I got the next one up (hint hint) with my stock I had.
-
I think I must have missed a few Geoff, this was one of them, yes we did have Franklins here, also Bi-Lo, Tom the Cheap, all gone now. Well done
-
Bi Lo is still around in regional SA. Even in McLarenvale that is on the fringe of the CBD I think or that considered country? We visited McLarenvale a few times some friends live there...or is it WIllunga I am thinking of they are right next to each other.
-
Maybe there, we live one and a half hours from their Geoff, bit far go shopping, heh heh

Fate took you where you needed to go and I believe God had his hand in all that you accompolished and every one that you met, leading you here to tell us there is a reason.

So interesting to hear about life in Australia. You began your working life about the same time I began mine - and we both worked in retail for our first job! Lovely that you ended up in music, even for a short time.
You tell your story in a conversational and casual style that is quite readable. Thanks for writing!

Sankey, another solid installment that continues to build the building of your life. You have over come so much and I think we all need that to set us straight, so to speak. Great humor once more. :0 GracieAnn
