just read your author's notes - I really like the concept of animated stills :-)
strong use of alternate-line rhyme in your quatrains with a solid closing couplet
good alliteration in deep dark
Devine should be Divine
lovely alliteration in sudden stark silhouettes
I like the proximate internal rhyme in teeth unleash
good alliteration in two troubadors, and I love the story line! I'm laughing myself silly at the closing :-)
The only thing that is missing is the contest's requirement of iambic meter - daDUMdaDUMdaDUMdaDUMdaDUM
I am still giving your poem a 5 because of its great humor and originality, but if I were a contest judge I would not be able to vote for this entry because of the meter :-) Brooke

    Thanks for the excellent review. I'll fix that typo. I thought I got the pentameter was in there, I certainly have the 10 count, and some of the multiple- syllable words need to be enunciated correctly, but I thought I had it.

    I can see a couple of lines that my throw you, but the still are iambic pentameter, so:
    With MELlow CHEER, time PASSED, imBIBing Wine.
    When SUDden Stark silHOUettes CLEARly CAME
    Do ALlliGAtors LIVE in YONder PARK?
    Two TROUbaDOURS turned INto CRAven CHUMPS!
    TerRORized! QUAKng! FRIHGtened BY some STUMPS!

    What am I missing?!

This is a unique, interesting picture--one never knows what they will encounter in the forests--a well-written sonnet which complements the photo very well;
Good alliteration in"sudden stark silhouettes", creating good visual images of troubadours encountering a mysterious object;
The bit of humour in the final lines completes the poetry in fun fashion

This is really cool. I do see the alligator in the stump. That is a cool idea to write about these. Photos inspire me too. It would be a riot to see those grown men run. Nice job with the sonnet. :) ~Yona

I like the title for this clever little poem. I can just imagine some little boys walking through the forestation in the dark ... And thinking all this! Very funny. CG

Stumped!!! I like the fact that you take your own photo's. I try to do the same getting a new digital camera for Christmas. As always this is a good read. Deorre

This work has reached the exceptional level

Great photo and fantastic poem.

Yes - too often people panic when confronted by something or somebody that looks foreign/frightening rather than just staying still and reasoning. We see it quite often when folk come out from the cities and into the country and go for walks even during the day - many are too frightened to go out at night as there is no street lighting and the light from their torches just shows them eyes looking at them from the trees and stock height.

Thanks for the great read.

    Wow! I am blown away by the enthusiasm of this wonderful review. This is my second attempt at a Sonnet. My first failed. To get a six is way beyond my expectations. Thank you so very much.
