That was quite a touching scene between the two brothers. Such a horrible thing for a family to go through. You certainly make it all seem so real, it's hard to keep in mind that this fiction.

It seems such a contradiction in terms to say this about a chapter dealing with such horrific images, the the word choices, the visuals, Sasha, they were just outstanding.
For the first time, I just 'went into my mind' for a minute and imagined what I would feel if my father had done this. A truly horrifying thought.

somewhere there's a 'period. barely' you need a comma.

Kudos, my friend. Your writing is smooth, seamless and lovely.

Hugs,
Gaye

Thanks so much. This is something most, fortunately, never have to deal with, but those that do seldom come out of it without severe emotional damage.

Wow!!!! I am shaking right now and my eyes are full of tears
feeling so very badly for their entire family;fully understanding the deep perplexing position they face and that one extreme dumb founded unanswerable question that I
beleave will haunt them for one hundred life times; Why did
they not know he was like that???? That alone I feel shall
ultimately prove to become the boom that will undoubtedly
destroy their complete family foundation emotionally and physically....So very well done my friend....I am truly loving this to the fullest....Cranial Thinker

So many family do not survive the ridicule from the public and media. Ir is so sad that they are punished for something they do not have anything to do with.

This is well-written..the whole concept is sad and yes, I know there have been similarly real situations as this...what a family must feel in such a herndous nightmare..then people can be cruel to them even though they had nothing to do with it. God bless.

Yes, this is all too true. People want answers to understand why such terrible things happen.

Hello,

Great chapter.
You capture their emotions so well.
You are also very good at putting the reader right there in the room with them.
Excellent descriptions.
Very moving.
Interesting.
Great way to end the chapter as well.
Katie

Sasha, you are the best. Your revelation of James and his feelings, reactions, thoughts, is superb. I always tell my students (I'm an on and off 'coach' in writing articles for magazines) to imagine how the scenes of their writing would form in the readers' mind, and this is a rare example. Wish I still have six stars for you...:)

a dog, I fought for just one deep breath of air[,] but my lungs refused to take in more than a single, small gulp at a time;

"Sorry[,] James, I couldn't sleep either."

My mind raced with questions I wanted to ask Mom[,] but didn't dare.  I was never very good with people and

the public will be asking.["]

excellent chapter. The emotions seem dead on.
