This is such a profound poem. We each grieve in our own way and others can't tell us how we are supposed to do this. I felt the pain and it gets better after a while, but the loss inside the heart never complete heals. I lost my Father five years ago last month!
Blessings,
sandra

Thank you for sharing this poem of sadness, about feelings on the death of your mother. I can feel it with you too, my friend, my mother passed away at the age of 96, ten years ago. I still miss her until this day.
Beside the last stanza, the following lines are my favorite part:
- Some feelings are too intimate to share.
- your devotion encased me like a glove.
So beautifully written with your heart. Wish you the very best in the contest. (tati, Jan. 06, 2010)

Thank you so much for the lovely review. Mom died at 80. That was over ten years ago. This was written shortly after her death. I still miss her. I split a first prize win for this.

Congratulation, Beth. I'm happy for you.

You portrayed well how others question the emotions displayed by greiver. It was clear that no matter how smothered you felt you knew that her love would never be a burden - only and enhancement to your being. Great Job!

This is a lovely tribute poem to the enduring love of a mother upon her passing from the point of view of an only child. Rhymes and rhythmic aspects are skillfully done and the sentiment expressed is credible and vivid. I like it a lot. The poignant tone is perfect for this contest.
Good luck in the competition.

I think I'm about ready for a happy poem now. Too many good sad ones. My Mom went on to be with the Lord a few years ago. I still miss her very much.
Well done, Buck

Thank you Buck, I don't usually write sad poems but it is what the contest calls for. I hope I didn't depress you. I appreciate the review.

No, you didn't depress me. Reading some of these poems and knowing the pain that people go through with and there is but One that can really help.
-
This is very true. I know I will see my mother again.

Comment from Janelle
You have written such a poignant poem that totally encapsulates the feelings of grief and sadness.
It is such a different perspective ong grief; that: "Some feelings are too delicate to share." and one that has me thinking deeply. You are right of course, sometimes; "Words can do no justice to my feelings,
and tears can never fill the vacant place."
Time will indeed heal your wound, but the scar will always remain. I suppose you can take comfort in the fact that you "never had a day untouched by love"; so many of us can't lay claim to that.
Excellent entry in the comp and I wish you well, regards, Jan

G'day
Thoughtful, heartfelt, well-constructed poem on an event that will be familiar to most of us.
Not mjor things but I suggest that 'intimate' might be better than 'delicate' in v2l4 and the inversion in v4 l3&4, whils probably necesary for the poem as written feels a bit contrived.
Good luck!

Thank you Joe. It's funny but I had intimate and someone else thought delicate would sound better. I may chage it back. I do appreciate the great review.

I enjoyed this poem.
The emotion displayed is very real.
The rhyming is fantastic.
"Some feelings are too delicate to share."
How true is this?
"which only time may heal but not erase."
Tremendous ending.
The pace was good, and the imagery excellent.
Very nice job.

Everyone had a different way of grieving, but I've seen a few that never cry or seem bothered by someone close dying. It's just they way they handle things deep within themselves. Great job.

Thank you so much. I appreciate the review. I tend to go numb and just go through the motions of doing what has to be done. I let it all out later.
