This is very poignant and as a mother I weep with you and other mothers.
I'm afraid we will never know the answer this side of eternity but hopefully all shall one day be revealed.
Very moving and beautiful.
Bless you

Thank you so much for your kindness. I must believe that they stand on the other side, smiling and watching over us, until we meet again. Thank you...Carol

A mother whose child has died in war, forever chilled - what a stunning way to describe the intensity of emotion and grief she must feel all within the confines of a well-composed cinquain. Well done, Carol. Brooke

I weep,
Blindly hoping
Sweet warmth to come again,
Forever chilled, a mother cries,
"Goodbye."

A touching piece, felt by this
mother's heart. I've just written
A Silent Scream which made me feel
quite emotional, putting myself in
the place of one who has gone through
the loss of a child.... as you well
know, my friend.

Margaret.

Hi Carol,
good Cinquain poem about how a mom feels ( chillied) knowing she may never see her son or daughter, if they are going off to war.

Good luck
Gert

This was wonderfully written. The images you have created are strong. I love the picture, but felt that it narrowed who or what this poem is about. I understand that you may have had war in mind when you wrote this, but with such strong description I think mothers who have lost for many different reasons could feel understood with these words. Great job.

Actually I initially wrote it for my own loss because my son was on my mind...but when I saw the picture, I decided to make it more of a tribute to the other mothers. Thank you for reading and appreciating the poem. Carol

Dear Carol,

And I might add fathers also. A very powerful verse that shakes you to your core.

Good luck in the contest.

Warm regards,

Winslow

Yes, every parent...I wrote mother's simply because my son was on my mind... I am blessed that my poem touched you. Thank you very much. Carol

Carol, your poem is very emotionally charged with a sense of overwhelming sadness. Any parent who has to say goodby to their child--devastating.

I really think the real pain comes from never actually getting to say goodbye..The child is gone and you never had the chance to say those last words, to tell them how much you loved them one more time. Thanks for the review....Carol

I choose to read this as if it comes from the grieving mother of a fallen soldier lost in the middle east.
I read it a second time: now I read it as if it is a cry from mother America (not the politicians, but the land that nurtures you all over there)...
This time, I weep.
Pat.
