Hidden Beauty--people fail to see this!! beauty is skin deep not just the surface and greed is ugly pure ugly. I have met a few people in my life that they were so filled with greed it was disgusting as they used people as rungs of a ladder to clime to the top. great job again and as always, ron

Loveliness cannot be measured
By the glitter in the night
A jewel never glistens
In the absence of pure light
I know a JeweLL that need not ever worry about the light being gone for she is indeed a precious soul and has a constant compainon who keeps her company as she shares...
Blessings this one was priceless!

Jewell,
I cannot believe it but about 2 weeks ago, I started on a poem very similar to yours!!
How amazing. this one is truly beautiful and the imagery is stunning.
The last two lines could be emblazoned as a legend. Just perfect :
A jewel never glistens
In the absence of pure light
The light is shining on you, dear Jewell, what more can I say?
Affectionate regards,
Ami

Ahhh, Jewell.
My heart immediately soars to Nepal where I spent some time
with the beautiful people of the "roof of the world" ~
To New Zealand and the Maui people.
To Australia with the Aboriginal people.
To Rome and the Pope I shall write of one day.
To the Nursing homes where I spent many of my nursing hours
To New Mexico, To California, To Ohio, To New York, To Florida
across our land and beyond
Everyone is beautiful...................as is this piece. diane

wow cool. I was just talking to my man about the treasures that lie all over the world in the elderly especially. Let me know when you are in NM.

Silvergold and Jewell--A perfect combo...Hi, JJ--The writing is truly beautiful; if everyone's definition of beauty matched this one, the world would be an entirely different place. It ought to be required reading...Really special, just like its author.
Superb.
Sincerely,
Lark

Hi Miss J,
another wonderful piece that compliments your last write. How shallow has society become that we can no longer get past looks and see what's in the heart... Buddy

Just go without magazines, t.v. or the internet for a month and you'd be amazed what happens. No wonder monks needed to be confined to private quarters. We should all do that now and then.

As I start my review with your last 4 lines, yes, true beauty is beyond the physical attributes - we can't see yet we can feel it deep within our heart! Grey haired, wrinkled... beauty might have faded away but the memories of our deeds would remain forever!

Never judge a person by their outward appearance, is my motto. Look inside and see what lies there. Sometimes we get surprised by the beauty that's within. The old woman's face shows wrinkles and age, but inside might be a jewel that's worth more than any diamond ever could be. This is a lovely free verse and it contains a message for all of us. V.A.

I am a lover of many kind of poetry, but especially the poetry that touches the soul! The Spirit moved when reading these words and ministered to my spirit. This is a wonderful poem with rhyme and rhythm. It causes the believer to be thrilled, that when we see Jesus we shall be like Him! Hallelujah! What a Saviour! Every blessing, David

Amen David. Thank you so much for the words of encouragement. My hope is that when I grow old I am not dismissed and have gained the friendship of those with depth who are not focusing on shallow intentions.
Will we leave a legacy or bitter roots?
Blessings to you David!
