I find the sad memories come through when my arthritis is giving me hell, it's like they kick me when I'm down, but you, crazy blonde poet, have said it creatively in your 2-4-2 poem. Loved both the verse and the notes, LOL.
cheers

Thanx so much for your review and your understanding on this one, my lady -- so glad I could put a smile on that beautiful face of yours! ;) And I apologize for the delay, but with the hours at the store (crazy time of year!!) and getting ready for Christmas, I've been away from the computer longer than usual! ;-) :-) You take care out there and Merry Christmas! ;) Yvette

Hi Yvette!
So nice to see you've returned to Fanstory! It's been a while, eh? "Crazy blond"? Never!
What a wonderful entry for the 2-4-2 poetry contest. I thought I stood a chance, but not now. Not with your poem in the mix.
This time of year, I always remember hearing Santa Claus on our rooftop in the middle of the night. Seriously!!! It happened. Nobody can convince me otherwise. I was awake and suddenly heard the reindeer hooves, the sleigh runners, and the bells! My heart was pumping like mad. I imagined Santa downstairs at our tree with his bag of toys and candy, filling stockings and drinking the hot chocolate and pumpkin pie we left for him. And sure enough, after 5 or 6 minutes, he took off the other side of the roof... hooves, sled, and jingling bells! I was around 11 or 12 years old, so it must have been December 25th of 1961 or 1962. I've relived the memory for at least 61 Christmas Eve's. This December 24th will make 62! Memories are so wonderful. Nobody can take them away. They're locked in our brains.
"bright shards
of mem'ries pierce
time's veil"
Nicely penned! Good Luck in the contest!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Wow, Kimbob!! It is so good to hear from you!! ;) Thank you so much for those shining stars, sir -- you've made my evening (even after the crazy people at the store!! lol!)! ;) Oh, yeah, still a bit of a crazy blonde, but I wouldn't have me any other way (wink, wink).... Haven't been back very long -- took an unexpected hiatus when life realigned itself... long story, but my smile's back! I'm hoping to get started back on my longer writing after the new year and things settle down after Christmas... I'm going to check if our 'fan thing' is still in place because I lost so many fan connections but have slowly reconnected them... Oh, and I apologize for the delay, but with the hours at the store (crazy time of year!!) and getting ready for Christmas, I've been away from the computer longer than usual! ;-) :-) You take care out there and Merry Christmas! ;) Yvette

hmm i liked the imagery evoked in this short poem. I like the idea of shattered memories piercing through time's veil and coming to the forefront of one's mind.

Wonderfully done, Yvette, in such succinct verse form too! I like the contrasting sharpness of the shards against the ethereal quality of "time's veil." You present an image that lingers in the mind and is a great contender here. Very well done and good luck! Debbie

So often we find that we have memories that seem to come in and pierce our veil that has been covering our memories for so long and I enjoyed your pool. I'm very much and I wish you the very best. Patricia.

But, random crazy thoughts can surface in all of us, and it takes a certain mind and personality to bring that to the fore and immortalise it in the written word.
I love the image and how well the words fit to it.
Thanks for sharing.

Not an odd thought at all! It's true that bits and pieces of our lives tend to pop in and out of our memory bank to give us sometimes bitter and sometimes sweet surprises. And the older we get, the more pop ups we get! C'est La vie.

Being a blonde (okay so it's almost white now) I agree with what your've written. My dark shards are from the past and I struggle at times to keep them at bay, but I'm learning each day to take it for what it is and move forward.
Well done!
Smiles, Carol

No need to apologize, Yvette. It is a hectic time of year. What kind of store do you work in? You take care and Merry Christmas to you, as well.
