Ciao!

This is definitely how I feel.

Snow is beautiful to see from the warmth and safety of one's home.

Having to drive or walk in it is a feat.

We don't have a garage living in the historic part of the town so I have done my share of shovelling , retrieving pa's car under the snow.

When it is snowing heavily I must go out and shake my camellia otherwise it will bend and break. I have to free my entrance .

My house is on a curve at the bottom of a slope in a very narrow street.

The snowplow just fits and when it comes down it leave a metre wall or more of compressed snow at my entrance and then it takes the curve.

Hi Tempeste, I had written a nice thank you to you and it must not have gotten saved correctly, so I am sorry as your review meant the world to me.

Although I was mostly joking, I would hate it if I had to work or be outside for any amount of time at all. My husband does a lot but if I had your responsiblitities, I would absolutely hate it. So thank you dear friend for the great review and the six stars too. Much love and hugs, dear friend. Debi

I like your poem about when it snows. So far we haven't had any snow except a few flurries one morning.
One nice thing about a snow, it acts as an air purifier.
Your picture and couplets are very nice.
Congratulations on your wins and good luck with your poem.

Hi there, and I thank you so much for your awesome review and such kind words. I had some fun doing this because it was so out of character for me. I guess I needed a change. So thanks again my dear friend. Love, Debi

This is fun poem, and I agree with you 100% about those four-letter words. I don't handle the cold well either and I don't have heating system in my house, so I always have to wear clothes to keep me warm.

Oh Beth, no heat system? Do you have a wood stove or electric?
I would hate to see it really cold for you. Where do you live?

I paid $12,000 fir a water-based heat pump but in never worked, I had men out to work eight times and they blamed on my water pressure from a well. I finally gave and just use eclectic heaters. The temperature is different from room to room. i live in Chattanooga.

Oh Beth, that is too bad but I am glad that you have electric heaters. Sometimes I like them better but my favorite is when we used to use the wood stove. Please take care of yourself and stay warm the best you can and be safe. Love and Hugs!!

i can relate to cold weather. Korea can get very cold in late December to February, last winter was particularly cold hit minus -50 F on more than one occasion. Coldest weather I have ever experienced. I am back and it is 15 D F this morning.

Hi Jake, I didn't realize that it got that cold in Korea. So are you back there yet? You didn't say anything about the poem, so I hope you weren't disappointed by my silly humor.. I had some fun doing this because it was so out of character for me. I guess I needed a change. So thanks again my dear friend. Love, Debi

Hi there. I like the four letter work concept of the poem. You describe the cold of winter nicely in rhyme. Well presented and interesting. The humour element on the last line caught me by surprise. I live in a temperate climate and we complain if the cold drops below 0 degrees centigrade. Nice work. Mel

Haha! I like this poem and the humour involved. I've heard that Minnesota is cold and that there is a lot of snow there. Keep writing and don't freeze!
Perhaps writing is a good way to keep your brain warm. Sometimes it gets so cold here where I am that I have trouble holding my pen. Have you ever tried writing wearing gloves?

Debi,

This is a great poem. I like the last line about kicking Jack Frost in his cold balls. That's hilarious. I would say you had some silly fun with this poem.

When I lived up there in Minnesota one of the ladies I worked with said the cold kept y'all preserved and looking young. I'll take the the warmth and the wrinkles that come with it. LOL

Well done my wonderful friend. Have a great weekend.

Cecilia

Hi Cecilia. Wow, you still had one of those babies left. Thank you so much for honoring me with it. I appreciate it more than you could know.
Yes, it is cold but I don't have to go out too often except one day a week for my labs and to see my eye doctor. So thanks so very much my dear friend.
Love and hugs and let me know when you want to work a little bit on meter.
Seriously I look back at my old stuff now and wonder what I was thinking.
And once it comes to you, you don't have to think about it again. So let me know. Thanks again!! Love ya, Debi

    Debi,

You're welcome and you deserve only the best. I don't know if I'll ever be as good as you. I have another poem I just put together. I will type it up and get it to you. Hopefully theres some meter in there.

Thank you again my sweet friend. I appreciate you more than you know.

Ha, ha. Quite a funny ending kicking poor Frosty in the balls. It's been that kind of weather where I live although it's supposed to warm up into the 40s in the next couple of days.
This is really cute Debi as I'm sure winter is difficult for you.
Stay warm, drive save and all that jazz!

Hi Katie, I forgot where you lived, and we actually warmed up to 45 today. But the ice is still good for fishing. That is all the men have on their minds.

Overall, your poem is a fun and witty reflection on winter's trials. The consistent rhyme scheme, vivid imagery, and humorous touches create a delightful and engaging piece. It's a perfect read for anyone who has ever grumbled about the cold and snow. Excellent work!

I like the approach. The humour is certainly noted. I can't relate, being from the tropics. Thanks for sharing this. It makes me appreciate living in the Caribbean. I don't do well with cold.

Trina, to give a four star you are saying that it needs improvement. Could you please tell me what you think I should have done to improve my poem?
reply by Trina Layne on 07-Dec-2024
For me, it was just about improving the overall flow of the poem. I got thrown off by the rhythm at points. Sometimes in trying to accommodate certain rhymes, it can happen. That was my only issue, and so I gave it four stars.
