Were you at the game, John? Hubby grew up in NY and always rooted for the Mets. :)) Good to see you back at posting!
Enjoyed how you shared about the game that the Yankees won in these short lines.
I don't think you really care about the grammar issues but a lot were just apostrophe missing from contractions like:
Moons bright (Moon's bright) for Moon is bright
Airs crisp (Air's)
Stadiums buzzing (Stadium's)

I wrote this on the fly, so I'm not surprised by the errors.
This was a fun write. Hopeful for more...

Dear poet, I love this two word
couplet. It cascades down
melodiously like a waterfall.
I'm originally from Long Island, and I prefer the Mets, lol! But great baseball poem.

Thank you, John, for introducing me to the world of baseball. I like the originality of the theme and the punchy sounding couplets reflecting (I think) the speed and nature of the game. Since it doesn't need to rhyme, I don't know why you didn't think it suitable to enter. Sport will always tell a story so you've absolutely nailed the challenge! Thank you for sharing and congrats to the Yankees! (I knew they'd win:)) Debbie

I like it. Not quite on par with "The Scooter," but who could, maybe Mel Allen and Bill White was presentable. Red Barber was another goodie. ???
How did Cone get to think Pinstripes? Wasn't he a MEt?
