As a cat lover myself - I can only applaud you for this story.
It is just what a cat would d0, and the reaction was spot on, hurt the cat & pay the consequences.

Good stuff.

Thank you. That's correct. If anyone hurt one of my cats, there would be hell to pay. Lol

It's a good read though I only recognized the subject speaking was a cat more than halfway through. I mean.... dad? Are we speaking Tom or a husband, and if a Tom I guess they can vamboozle away too.

Thank you. I know several men who consider themselves cat or dog dads. My husband was one of them.

I absolutely loved this story, and it certainly surprised me! It's a lovely story for the contest, and funny too. You've done a good job at not letting the reader guess until the claws come out! The was hilarious! Well done and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xxx

Way to go! Let the reader believe the story was being told by a child and then bingo! it's a fluffy irate cat with it's claws set for battle. Good job and quite humourous.

This is great, I love the little surprise twist at the end that meets the brief perfectly.
As a dog dad and also someone who is owned by 3 cats, I agree.
Love me, love my fur family. And never come to my house unless you are ready to leave with plenty of fluff.

A great flash story, well crafted and amusing. I love that you kept me guessing until the middle before revealing the protagonist is a cat.
I hope you do well in the contest.

Thank you, and thanks for the six stars. I have a cat who is picky about who he welcomes to the house. Cats are excellent judges of character.

Thank you. I love writing cat stories. They are excellent judges of character, too. Once, a man in a lovely suit came to our home, and my cat went straight to him and climbed on his lap. I was horrified the guy would be angry about the cat hair on his suit, but he just laughed and petted my cat. He was a genuine cat person.

Little horror... This is a genuinely funny piece of flash, which works because of the common habit of people to refer to their pets as "kids" etc. My daughter is "Mummy bird" to her parrots, and calls me "Granny bird" when I come to visit. Therefore... well, the story works!

Thank you. Yep, I have five cats and love them like children. They have a lot of love inside their little, furry bodies.

A clever flash fiction that has a twist at the end. Well done and fun to read. You had me fooled from the start, I was sure it was a child, in addition to the cat, being abused.

Thank you. I live with five cats and have found them to be excellent judges of character. If they don't like a person, they don't hesitate to let them know.

You certainly spring a surprise which is what the contest was designe to do, but I certainly didn't know that before it was expressed, we've owned 12 cats in our married life, and remember every single one them. Great post, good luck, Blessings Roy

Thank you, and thanks for catching the typo. I will edit and correct it. I'm sure you can relate to the pet parent thingy if you have owned cats.
