Dang if you didn't go and win the contest! I had it once, too, and my memory serves it up in beautiful red and amber gold.
Sending you my best today as always, and my very best wishes for the contest.

Beautiful tribute to a New England autumn. We live in Massachusetts and would never trade this seasonal beauty for Florida! Great entry for the contest.

This poem, Autumn in New England, presents the passing fall as a final explosion of color and power which dazzles our senses all the way through the season and into the snowy rest of winter. Neat.

You almost didn't need the visual although I accept that's part of the brief. Your lovely free-falling verse captures the redness of Autumn beautifully and the poignancy that the season always holds in this transient state of beauty. I always love the mention of New England. It conveys, for me, revival and vibrancy. Thank you so much for sharing this very evocative verse, Jess. Take care Debbie

Another fabulous poem, Jessica. With this one you pain us a picture of the season and then entwine the emotions of what we see. Beautiful! And appreciated.

Ciao !
Autumn is my all-time favourite season. Since it is a frequent theme, it is not easy to find someone who describes it creatively like you did.
You offered not one but a string of original descriptions
Here are some I loved :
season spills like cabernet
listening to leaves, their stories rustling underfoot
to burn in red defiance
A quiet, crimson sorrow
I like the photo you posted, it show cases well your lovely poem.

Gorgeous, it's all about the seasons! I love reading these it's really amazing no mater how many seasonal poem I read here, the author always has their own special way with words and finds more magical ways to bring it life with sounds, smells and scenes. Well done I really enjoyed this. 'To burn so bright in red defiance' is my favourite line.
Best Wishes
Nicola

You brought the vibrant colours to our eyes here Jessica and it sounds like such a joyous scene in this celebration of seasonal colour, I wish I could see it for myself too. Autumn can be an amazing show, I enjoyed thoughts, love Dolly x x x

Have you set this to music. To me it read like lyrics to a song. I must confess my voice didn't help, but gee it flowed delightfully. The words sit together as comfortably as old friends. A most enjoyable read.

Jessica,
What a beautiful poem. The picture is perfect for the poem. Yes, New England has the most beautiful fall foliage. I miss it as I live in Texas and we don't see all the fall foliage.
Great job. Good luck in the contest.
