That sounds about like some lazy teen's plans for the future. The way you can lay around and do nothing and hope in the future you dreams or lack of them somehow work out.

Yup! I see too much of this going on lately and I fear for what our world will look like in another thirty or forty years. It's quite sad with all their entitlement thoughts.

Seems like typical teenager thinking to me. Another 110 to go.
Slow going my friend. Enjoy your day. Crisp weather here, no need for sweaters yet. mid seventies. Perfect. But the weather seems be slow to be sunny, and quick to be dark. Karen

Between plumbers and furnace men I am busy today. Seems everything has to break at the same time. Good luck with your day.

I don't think that plan is going to work very well for him. But that being said, it makes for a very good flash fiction story that was fun to read. Thank you for sharing this with us.

I see it happening with so many of the younger generation and wonder what will happen if out world continues like this. It's so sad. Entitlement is not part of reality. Thanks for the review.

So true. I have a grandson who feels he's entitled to so much. He'll be 19 in November. He'll have a difficult time. He's already learning, he wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

I have several who act the same way. I just don't understand it.

You've got these flash stories nailed down. Funny and so accurate. Entitlement is in abundance these days and makes me wonder what the world will look like in another 50 years or even less. Thanks for sharing.

From what I see today, it's not looking good but I won't be around to see it. Feel sorry for those who will be though. It's sad.

This is funny... but dark humor to me...
I see a lot of adolescents either so entitled, they feel they ought to begin as an executive....
Or demoralized by the often difficult financial stress of hoping to get that first job, grow with it, get their first apartment, etc.
The number of college grads moving back in with parents is staggering!

I see it every where too. Corrie has Gavin 23 and Kaitlyn 18 and neither of them look like they are going anywhere. Entitlement seems to be the name of the game.

I wonder when the REALITY ALARM will ring!

Haha! This is really funny. I always tell my kids when they have been talking in their sleep and they always say, 'why didn't you record me!' You know the answer to that lol! Very nicely done.
Best Wishes

Hi Begin Again,
This seems like a typical father-son conversation. "Get a job" and "follow your dreams" could be two different paths. It makes me think of the novel "The Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole (one of my favorite comedy stories). He had been working on his masterpiece novel for five years and opposed working in the corrupted, vile world, but his mother makes him get a job.
The only part that confused me was "they're" and "they" in the final sentence. After I thought about it, I guessed they were the voices from his dreams, suggesting he has multiple personality disorder, and the others come out at night.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read and to try and decipher this young man's thoughts. I think he has the mentality that all good things will come to him in time and all he has to do is wait. Wake Up! That's not how it works. LOl

Heh heh, I suppose that's a job of sorts, it probably may not earn a very good income, but hey it's a start, I'm glad my girls always had a work ethic, beautifully written, you have a great talent Carol, blessings Roy

Thank you, Roy! I've been lucky with my children...but a few of my grandchildren need a wake up call. they complain that life is so tough (and it has been for a few who lost their mother so young) but that's no reason to believe everything else should be given to you. My speech for the day! LOL

Another entertaining short piece, Carol. I could picture this scene well in my mind as I was reading it, I think father and son conversations can definitely be awkward sometimes. An excellent piece.

Thanks Jacob! I was thinking of the younger generation who don't make plans for the future, they just expect it to come to them whatever it will be... Not all of course, but many.
