Well, now, Helen, some people don't do the right thing until they're treated harshly. Such is the case with with Jane. Others of us can only be nice until we feel we are being treated rudely, and that is me. Yin and Yang, I guess.

Okay. The texting back and forth was fricking hilarious. The back and forth about leaving a crying 70 something in a parking lot surrounded by her luggage was priceless. Your comeback should go down in the annals of history. I could hear and feel that statement. So, we finally make it!! Yay. Didn't believe it was actually going to happen a few chapters ago. You out did yourself with this one. BTW, I would never say I forgive you. I would just answer "fine". Virgos don't forgive and forget. We just move the offender up or down on our watch list. Lol. I love the point you make about apologies in the same vein as the insult. An insult on page one should not be remedied on page 9 of the second section. I will always remember a 10th grade English teacher who tried to embarrass me in front of the class, and then asked me to stay after class so he could privately apologize. I've always hated that I didn't call him out on that.

Gretchen has backbone, but she's just very, very compassionate and puts things into a Big Picture perspective. I'm harsher. I think every relationship has that kind of good cop/bad cop dynamic.
