Well, the only thing I saw in the gardens close to the mountains are dears, mountain goats, rabbits and I heard about some bears and wolves. Nice story. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

Poor Steven! His mama definitely underestimated his animal recognition ability, city boy or not! Nope, even I wouldn't mistake that for a deer! Fun story.

Fantastic memory, Barbara. I found myself wondering if they are dangerous and if you can shew them away like wild animals.

Now if you had a mind to hunt, you could have had a freezer full of steaks. Just sayin......

What a cute little story, and I can certainly picture this whole conversation taking place. I mean that even in an open range state, you wouldn't expect to see a cow in the front yard. Thanks for sharing.

We don't have any long horn steers in Maine, but we do have a lot of deer. Every once in awhile they will wander into our back lawn. They are mostly does. The bucks are usually more wary.

Hi Barbara,
Hehe, it isn't a steer, but that's okay, we get the point. Okay, puns aside, it's a cute story. As a cattle owner, I assure you, cattle understand the concept of open range, even when we try to keep them in the fences, lol. They are some of the greatest escape artists out there.

I'm so glad Steven was able to convince you he knew the difference, lol.

Hugs,
Rhonda

Even in my yard it might seem odd. There was a neighbor with a longhorn bull for a bit, but he's gone. To me, they are really ugly, and are too skinny to make much off of, but they do tend to survive the droughts we've been having.

I can imagine seeing a longhorn steer in your yard, front or back yard, would be quite a shock. But then I live in southern California where this would be an unlikely sight, now mountain lions are a different story.

I just this second posted a club poem about Texas, then I read this. Our minds must be on the some wavelength. Anyhow, I found it very enjoyable and thanks for sharing the tale.

I don't know if I told you this but when we first moved to Florida, we were on an acre of land. On Christmas eve, we had some rare snow. We looked out our front lawn and there were two deer. We didn't see Santa, though, and it was the only time we saw deer in our yrad.

This is funny. I'll bet he felt justified about having his knowledge called into question. I would understand you finding it hard to believe a longhorn would be moving around in the city.

Heh heh, I couldn't help but have a giggle at this, I've been a city boy all my life, but I've still the difference between a crocodile and an elephant, a snake and a chook, heh heh, well done Barbara, great post, blessings Roy
