Jim,
I clearly remember seeing this funny clown on tv. It's so sad that he lost his son. Like Lou Costello, the show had to go on.
Great poem, Jim.
Blessings and best wishes,
Cindy

Thank you for your kind words. Lou Costello is another one that much has been and could be written about. Red's son asked him what it's like when you die. Red told him, "You march in a big parade with lots of clowns". Lou Costello refused to cancel his show when his son died. He felt he owed it to him to go on and make people happy and that he was sure his son could her him.

Great Poem! I don't think Red Skelton got the credit he deserved. He was a very funny man. He is from my hometown of Vincennes, Indiana. A few years ago they put up a Red Skelton Museum to honor him. I thought that was a great tribute to a funny man. He was also a very good artist and had a store called the Bronze Lady in Clearwater, Florida many years. Keep up the great work!

-Nice picture and presentation.
-You did a good job with your poem.
-I also like your take on the prompt.
-You did a great job weaving biography
into poetry with effective imagery and rhyme.
-Good insight into his career, like
Harriet Nelson being his singer. I assume
that is the same one who was the mother of Ricky Nelson?
-He was obviously gifted in many of the arts.
-Very good concluding lines.
-A good entry; good luck!!!

I too remember Red Skelton. As with many comedians who make others laugh they don't always have a lot of laughter in their own lives. A good choice for this colour series Red, and a good read. Well done,
cheers.

You did a fantastic job depicting, in poetry, the life of a man who brought joy to so many people. I recall, as a child, watching Red Skelton on TV. I could understand his humor, and he was always funny. You really took the creative approach by choosing Red Skelton to demonstrate the color red. Best wishes in the contest.

Oh, Red Skelton ! He was such a dear, sweet man. I don't think anyone would have clown phobia had they known Red. I loved his show and I loved his kind, humble demeanor. Best wishes in the contest~!

What great entry for the prompt! A wonderfully interesting tribute to a celebrity named Red! It was a great biographical read with lovely rhyme. I wasn't born until 1979 so it was before my time but now I know all about him. Isn't that great!
Well done and good luck!
