Rachelle,

I definitely support your sentiments in your club entry for your Kanshi poem.

It contains a strong messsge for us to consider as our citizens grapple with the myriad issues facing our country in the upcoming elections.

However, I am not in favor of your font choice (and all caps) for this message. For me, it is difficult to read.

Mark

You hit the nail on the head with this. No matter who wins this November, this country has been divided. Divided by people who don't care about any of us. Agendas, agendas, agendas for the political pocket book. Brilliant. Gretchen

Agreed. The last-ever consideration is the constituency! Thank you for the validation. Xo

Those last two lines stick with me. I think the coming presidential election is going to leave many angry, and I worry about more than further goals being "deadened".

We do seem to just be afloat, disconnected and weary. You have captured the current vibe of a nation in a Japanese form meant for this kind of topic.

Another bang-up job!

I hate talking about politics usually, but it was the format for a Kanshi poem. So, being the hyper-goody-good student I am, I had to comply.

Thank you for thinking I did well with it.

I do feel sad for the US. It's in an unenviable position, and the discontent and disunity are a source of real concern. It is a well-chosen image, the light of a candle dimming while discontent blossoms. Yet the blossoming of a flower is a beautiful thing, whereas discontent is not. Very thought-provoking.

Thanks, Wendy. The image was given to us this week by Gypsy, as ws the form Kanschi) as part of our weekly assignment in the Japanese Poetry Contest. These are, indeed, bleak political times over here! Oy. Thanks for the terrific review. xo

This is a sad poem about the political state of affairs in the US. This period of discontent has lasted a while as the past two leaders have not satisfied the citizens. The US is a Superpower and when there is chaos there, it unsettles the whole world. I hope there can be some unification in the future Rachelle. Your well expressed poem with excellent rhymes is poignant. If the Democrats gain another term, I fear the worst, I hope the citizens can vote wisely, love Dolly x x x

It seems so dubious at the moment, Dolly. Trump is such a lightning rod that he has alienated potential voters by the thousands. This week, though, he was endorsed by Bobby Kennedy, Jr., who, by rights, should have been the Democratic nominee but was swindled out of the chance. But then Kennedy's own family came out and said they were disappointed in him backing Trump and would continue to back Harris, themselves. I found their actions just outrageous!!! But again - a lot of that falls on Trump, who is such a polarizing individual.

Thanks for the the very nice review. xoxo

Fascinating info about Bobby Kennedy Jr as he goes against his own political beliefs to support Trump, truly amazing behaviour Rachelle, love Dolly x x x

I think he felt so betrayed by his own party that he wanted to give them the biggest "take that!" that he possibly could. I don't blame him. But the fallout from his family I found absolutely unconscionable. xoxo
