Awww, it's so hard to lose a pet who is a well-loved member of the family. We've lost several cats over the years and it is heart-breaking. You have written a lovely tribute to him and his photo is sweet. My condolences to all.

Hi Gail, and thanks for the kind review and comments..
I wrote this not only because I knew my son and his family would appreciate it, but I knew so many could relate with their own pet's deaths. So sorry for all of your losses too, sweetie.

Thanks again, my dear friend. Love, Debi

This is about Kevin. And I wish you the very best with all of your writing. I know people who have pets that loose them suddenly are very stressed. May you have a wonderful day and a very good weekend. Patricia.

Debi, your poem reminds me of my little Dachshund who ran away from the dog sitter when we were abroad. He was never found. I have a new dog (Rocco) now, but I still remember PJ (Poetic Justice or Pajamas =)) who used get under the blankets to lie at my feet.

I am very attached to my dog-- not cats because although I would love to have a cat, I am m allergic to them. Thank you, Debi, for sharing.

I too was always allergic to cats but just found that it was n't so bad with Kevin. He was the first cat I loved. I was always a dog lover and lost my share of them. How awful about your runaway dog but thankfully you have little Rocco in your life now.

Thanks again, my dear friend. Love, Debi

That is so sad, Debs, when my cat died, I was inconsolable. They are more than our pets, they are part of our family, and loved as such. Cats have huge personalities, they are loveable, and mine would lay on her back, and talk to me. I am really sorry you have lost Kevin. It's a lovely poem, and beautiful send off, Well done, my dear friend. :)) Sandra. xxx

You are so much like me in the way of being so sensitive to loving others, whether family or pets. Which is the same thing.
I can tell you have so many relatable ones, and I am so sorry for all your losses, hon. I guess it's just like me with dogs.
Dogs have always been my downfall and Kevin is the first cat I really loved.

Thanks again, my dear friend. Love, Debi

I'm sorry for their loss! It's never easy losing your little feline buddies. I've lost two this year and miss them every day. Two weeks ago, I adopted a 12-year-old Siamese whose owner couldn't take him along to assisted living. I didn't want any more pets, but couldn't say no. Now, this crazy cat stays in a bedroom and I've only seen her twice. But she eats good and uses the litterbox. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

I am happy that this new cat found its place with you. You are so patient and kind. And she will come around in no time at all. After all with you, what's not to love. (Big smile)

Thanks again, my dear friend. Love, Debi

Awww! This is always so sad! But how honoured is Kevin to have this lovely tribute in his name! We lost our last dog last week and your sensitive words are very relatable. Love the way you infuse so much character into him. That loud meow will be sadly missed. Love Debbie xo

But I am so sorry for your loss of your dog. You know that before Kevin, I never liked cats, but he changed that. I am a dog person and always have been and I can truly relate to what you must be going thru as I have lost so many dogs. Some I mourn as much as family members. You know how that it with your dog. So sad! Take care, Deb.

Thanks again, my dear friend. Love, Debi

I am sorry for your loss. You can see from the photo that he was an important family member. He looks so happy with his tiny stuffed teddy bear.

You say he fell badly..cats are very agile so it is more likely that he had a malaise that caused him to fall awkwardly.

The house will feel empty without him. There are dozens of reminders everywhere, I'm sure. (sigh)

How did they come to have Kevin?

Hello and thank you dear Tempeste. Kevin was from a rescue adoption place. So they brought him home and loved him for the last six years. His brother and sister in the home were two Brittany dogs. Kevin sometimes snuggled between the two. They were all three very close and keep looking for him. But the one who hated when she brought the cat home was my son and you could go there anytime and I loved that we would find him on Jason's lap petting him. (Smiles)

Thank you again for the compassionate caring words and you are most likely right that they figured his fall was like you said. After all, that tall perch that he's on in the picture was one of his favorite places to be.

I'm so glad Kevin had a second chance to be happy.

Cats know how to worm themselves in.

Usually, those who oppose are the ones who end up being the biggest lovey-doveys.

My father was a dog lover so he didn't want cats .. yet didn't take long and Spitfire (a stray we found in the trash, still had the umbilical cord attached) was nestled in his hair while Pa was taking his afternoon nap.

I'm sorry for your loss. We lost our bunny back in May. It does make a huge difference when a pet passes on. This tribute to Kevin was lovely. You described his personality well. Seems like he was a really nice cat.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. Poor Kevin. He sounds like an amazing pet. We have lost a few cats through the years and can feel your pain. Kevin will always be alive in your hearts and memories. Thank you for sharing this lovely tribute.

So sorry to hear about your grand kitty, Kevin. I may have the same news about our grand cat filibuster, who has diabetes and has lost bladder control. They actually took him camping last week. He was traumatized.

Sending hugs and prayers for comfort.

Your grandkitty is yet another one I learned about recently. My friends dog had to be put to sleep recently. That's so sad. I know what it's like. 💖
