To portray a person eating moon creature as fun and whimsical is quite a feat. I really enjoyed this poem, the levity and fun it displays is great. I believe this will do well in the contest. Great job. Nice artwork as well, it adds to the sense of surrealism that the poem invokes.

Yep, I wanted to off-balance the reader and never let them regain equilibrium. I am happy that it carried over from my thoughts.

Are they coming? Are they already here? I read a report years ago that stated that its' author thought missing people worldwide were taken by aliens. And here I was worried about securing our borders. This is a little creepy. That in itself deserves a full-throated "Hell: Yeah". I also read that there were creatures on the dark side of the moon. We nicknamed them Pink and Floyd here in the United States. The gifts that aliens can bring to a culture is amazing. Global warming anybody?

I love the idea of your story, but I felt very bad for the astronauts as well until I read the last line and I actually gasped.Lick seems to be just a hungry creature in space, looking for food the earth has given it.Thank you!

This is very creative, l can picture the creature perfectly and of course it would be on the moon. I think kids would also love this. Best of luck in the contest. :)

I thought so as well. Kids like to go go go constantly and just like this poem, you never get a chance to breathe. Check out The other space creature named Sandersonbleacher if you enjoyed this one.

Author,
I like your humorous moon poem. Nice, uniform rhymes and a cute story behind it.

The last line of your poem is really fantastic; my dog and I will keep vigil just in case Lick comes to my town.
Excellent entry.
Best wishes,
Cindy

This reminds me a bit of Edward Lear's nonsense verse genre. Yours is really quite wacky but expressed in such delightfully amusing and fluent rhyming verse that I found it very enjoyable (even reading it a second time). The presentation is also excellent. Well done and good luck! Debbie
Edit below:
Whenever (it's) clever, it'll usually endeavour... (nice internal rhyme too)

Thank you! Yes, I wanted to discombobulate the reader immediately and knock them off balance before they could gain their senses and realize what the subject even was. By the time the reader becomes wise, the poem is over, and they are thinking of the possibility of Lick coming to Earth. If you liked this one check out The other space creature named Sandersonbleacher.

Aliens on other planets, definitely something to consider as probable in our realm existence. The ideal suggest, we are not the only form that is in this existence. The nature of others, walking on two legs, with a head above: holds great probabilities.

This is a great entry for the writing prompt about the moon. It's fun energetic with lovely rhyme, with great imaginative verses that takes us in different journeys on about the moon.
Well done and good luck

Thank you for the kind words and feedback. I tried to make it feel like looking directly at a water hose and the shock that soon accompanies the surprise.

Yes! I kind of envisioned a monster sitting back, licking his chops, and waiting for spacemen who had run out of breath.
