Well, for me I know they're lying when what they are saying isn't true.
It's as simple as that.
trump didn't win the last election, yet he insists that he did...
When it comes to promises, what else do you expect them to do...It's impossible to do all that any politician would want to do, when you have one party that doesn't believe in anything that works against their leader.
I'm not into politics, but I can read, and I don't believe a word that trump says...Not one!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts...

Oh, yes, just trust and listen, I'll tell you what you want to hear. And never fear, I'm the best, smartest, most honest, as if that even matters to voters anymore, and if you will vote for me one more time, you'll never have to vote again. Thanks for sharing.

We no longer pick the best candidate but only which is the lesser evil.
There are as many millionaires in Congress (435) as there are in the NBA (437).

How do you know when a politician is lying!?! When their lips are moving, of course. I did enjoy you rousing poem. Promises, promises, in deed. This was apt and clever. Good luck in the contest. Gretchen

Hi
This looks like a good entry for the contest. Good luck with that!!
Where is the pooper part? I wonder why the contest says party pooper, but then you don't have any rules for having any poop in there
Are you trying to say the Democrats have promised a lot but not delivered everything?
I would ask you what the Republicans have promised they'll do for the common man. They're all for big businesses and wealthy folks. So I guess if you don't promise anything you get more credit than if you promise something and try hard to get it and Congress stops you and so you don't get it. That's how our checks and balances work. That's the way it should be. How can the politicians deliver any promise when they have to work with Congress and Congress is divided?
So is it better to never make a promise to begin with?
Or to make a promise, work hard to try to deliver it and then somebody else stops you so you get blamed
I'm pretty sure in a limerick, the first two lines and the fifth line are ideally eight syllables. You have two lines that do not have eight syllables the second and the last lines. I was just reading up on limericks and found the first second and fifth line can have 7 to 10 syllables. However, most of the limericks I've read have the first second and fifth lines being eight syllables and then 3rd and fourth lines 6 syllables in iambic pentameter
So yours is probably fine for the contest, but it didn't flow in my mind because the lines were not in.iambic pentameter.
This line is nine syllables
"I'll tax the rich to end poverty"
This line is seven syllables
"til 'them dupes' file bankruptcy"
I enjoyed reading your poem
Good job. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the read and political essay. Left or right, it would be nice if politicians would support each other for the objective is for all Americans not just half.

I steer clear of commenting on politics because you can lose a lot of friends that way, but your limerick is too true and funny for me to ignore it. Any politician (regardless of his views) makes promises that he knows the voter wants to hear with little knowledge if he can really do what he says...he might hope, but he doesn't really know.

It will have to be a virtual 6 this time I'm afraid because it's Saturday and I'm all out but great job on this Party Pooper #2 writing prompt entry.. political limericks I won't even try but they seem to be your thing. Nicely done.
