I truly enjoyed reading this passage on Paul. It reminds me when I am in church and it's a tough crowd for the pastor. I'm thankful for the grace of God that he's given me and all of us to live out a beautiful life

What a good man Asa was still foolish, but a mistaken fool, a fool for Christ, we are all anointed to preach the gospel, we may not sit in the office of the evangelist, 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (NIV) All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. Beautifully written Jim, blessings Roy

The thing that made this Biblical exaggeration work so well is that the story is told in "Bible speak." Examples include:

Silas was of GOOD REPORT
BEHOLD the shoulder bone
a roast boar dinner UPON WHICH I ONCE SUPPED

This club entry is imaginative and a bit humorous.

This was quite the imaginary extra biblical story. I'm glad nothing like that happened. It doesn't sound like a really good way to prepare people to hear the real gospel because people seem to believe conspiracy more than truth. Thank you for entering your creative response to the club challenge!

An interesting hyperbole about a story originating in the truth of Paul's journeys and the consequences of someone making up their own message. As it's an exaggerated story, its meaning could be extrapolated to our own world and how people can distract from the true message of Jesus, even if in doing so, they hope to focus attention on Jesus.

Great job,
Hugs,
Rhonda

Exaggeration at its finest. You've written a very good story for the Club Entry but oh my what a bloody mess. Good for the story though. Thank you for sharing your imagination with the reader.

This is very well written and I enjoyed very much listening to it. It is a story that I wasn't quite acquainted with, but it rings true to me. May you have a blessed day and may you also have a wonderful weekend. Patricia.

What in the world. Well, that's one way to get their attention and release their inner turmoil but I would choose a way that didn't end with me being a bloody mess. A very good example of exaggeration for your writing club.

"my fellow travelers and I went to the local synagogues to preach Jesus as the Messiah to the Hebrews." With quite a few others also claiming to be the Messiah, I wonder how the early Jews initially felt about Jesus.
"Bring your sins and troubles to this bone and it will heal your lives!" Uh-oh, was Asa a hypocritical/phone believer in Jesus then?
"and they fain would have torn" Is there a grammar issue here?
"It is merely a memento of a roast boar dinner upon which I once supped." A dangerous game Asa had been playing there.
Hmm, so was Asa like a 'left hand' of God, indirectly aiding in the Lord's cause?

This is an interesting consideration of exaggeration or hyperbole for the club. I find the premise of invention of the nature of the bone extremely appealing. kay
