Razor scooter and me, running behind so he wouldn't get (to) far in front. *too

Hello, John,

I can relate to you. I have a 6 years old grandson. I take him to the park and he does have a lot of energy. It's nice when there are other kids to play with him. Atticus is a very friendly and makes friends with kids and adults easily so I have to keep an eye on him constantly.

It sounds like the perfect day. Well done.

Six year olds are a handful. A great handful.

    Thanks so much.

What a day, John! I'm very impressed. I mean, a six year old's energy is unstoppable. I only wish you hadn't gone on quite so much about the weather when our summer here in the UK hasn't even begun:(( But I forgive you, especially when you made me laugh about the 3 steps. A lovely, bonding day with Jackson - you deserved that pizza...even x2!!
Thank you for sharing, John, Take care Debbie . Edits blow:
since my kids (were) younger
and they were sister(s)
I wouldn't get to(o) far in front

I had expected another cooking lesson but am glad God blessed you with such a grandson and please cherish those moments as life passes so quickly. And, I haven't eaten yet and I love nothing more than a bagel with creme cheese but have none handy at this time.

Thank you for sharing your day with Jackson with us. I enjoyed reading every bit of it. I always enjoy spending time with my granddaughters. Life can't get any better than that.

Funny how kids that young don't see color as an issue. (As a retired first grade teacher, you're correct. Children don't see color. It's adults who teach them there's a difference.)

Poppa John, you deserved that day! Wow, why am I all of a sudden hungry for pizza?
What a great story with a lot of heart. There is nothing more precious than time with grandkids. And you did it with honors and kept up with him too.

So what a treat for you to take this young man and do whatever the two of you want to do on this special day. If you suffered the next day, make sure you never tell him. LOL... Then they start pitying you and offering to help you even cross the street or down the stairs.

I love your story Poppa John, and there is that urge for pizza again. Seriously!
Thanks for the great posts and may you have many more years with those precious grandchildren. I know you have some in Florida so that must be hard.

You will have memories that will last a lifetime. Great job, my friend and little bro. (But only by two months) So Enjoy those babes while you can!!
Love, Debi

Hi John, you had a wonderful day off with your grandson. I must admit that after lunch, I would have opted for the pool, and call it a day. You are a good grandpa. Of special note:

I was relieved when another car pulled up and three young girls exited the vehicle.

(I know that feeling.)

And:
My t-shirt soaked in perspiration clung to my torso.

(At 108F heat index, you were lucky that you weren't clasping your hands to your chest ... oh the love of a grandpa.)

Love the photo. This story made me smile. It's so nice to hear something that is happy. Margaret

These are the kind of days grandkids remember. It sounds like you had a lot of fun as well. I doubt if doing it every day would be something you could excited about but at least for his day, it was a great day.

This is the sweetest story of you entire beach day. What a treasure to have family so close.

My kiddos are coming on Saturday to celebrate my 69th Birthday a wee bit early so the day is mine. The menu and games. I'm a gamer. Boardgames mostly and Scrabble. Guessing games and trivia. I love it all. My twin grandsons have promised me a foot massage. Can't wait.

Salute being 69 and having it all, John!
Sending along my very best and six (virtual) starfish from the Atlantic shore.
Sal :))

Good story that brought memories home of Island Park South of Seaside, and Barnegat. Two things you might want to review. Shouldn't it be 'sisters' since they is plural, "they were sister because " and when I read "all three of them," I thought of the five girls not stairs.

Wow!! This is one seriously impressive Day-in-the-Life story, Poppa!! Six-year-olds DOOOOO have boundless energy! I'm very impressed that you kept up with him the entire time. (and you're right; praise G-d for those three sisters who took over the entertainment for a while!)

Sounds like the perfect day, though, and I guarantee he will remember it for the remainder of his days. xoxo
