The author's words are extremely thought provoking. And as I age it
frightens and saddens me what is fading away and what is yet to come. I enjoyed the poem which resonated with me well. The poem flows and connects well. Thank you for the author's notes they complimented well the words and theme of this poem. Hope you are doing well.... Maria

First, congratulations on you Milestone of 300. That is an awesome accomplishment.
I enjoyed your poem and it made me ponder the possessions we treasure and value today that we will discard tomorrow. And I guess it was ever thus.
We all change. I loved your references.

Very nicely done.

Blessings
Janet

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the poem. I am glad it got so many people thinking, I like to get people thinking. Change is inevitable, but it is unsettling, and sad that we have left those things and places behind and can't really get back there again. And we don't really know where we are headed. estory

I had so much fun with a hula-hoop, and wandering the aisles of Woolworth's and Sun Ray drug stores. You reminded me of all the pleasantries of my younger days...like disco music, miniskirts and flower power. Your poem adequately captures the feelings associated with lost traditions that weren't traditions after all.

Thanks for the excellent review and I am glad the poem was able to trigger so many memories for so many people. Yes, the age of Aquarius is behind us now, with Woodstock and the summer of love, the frisbees and the hot rods. For some strange reason, phonographs and tie died shirts seem to be hanging on. estory

Yes, whatever happened to those once prized antiques handed down through the generations? Possessions now, though still greedily coveted, are so often disposable and temporary. Sentimentality and nostalgia lost in favour of immediate gratification. Thank you for sharing your thought-provoking free verse, a pleasure to read. One small edit in your notes - porcel(ain). And congrats on your 300th milestone! Debbie

Thanks for the excellent review and your emotional comments on an emotional issue. We change our tastes, leave what was once popular behind, and take up something else, all at light speed today. Think of the nifty fifty of the sixties, K Mart and Xerox, Polaroid and Kodak. Where are those companies now? Gone are the Woolworths, the five and dimes, the little neighborhood pharmacies and hardware stores. And what replaced them? Huge international conglomerates that are as impersonal and plastic as they come. estory

You like to rant so you should enter "Write a Rant" contest that is due in five days. You are right about many things in this poem but you are wrong about cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin has been around since 2009 and appreciated from 0 to all time high of $71333 each in March of this year. Its current value is $64264. It will go high and high every four year cycle like in the last 15 years.

Well done.

Thanks for the excellent review and your take on the poem. The poem is really about the unsettling feeling of change, how it takes us away from where we started and moves us to who knows really where, and there is no going back. As for bitcoin...I've seen these things come and go over the years. In the sixties the nifty fifty were companies like Kodak, Polaroid, Xerox and K Mart, Sears and IBM. In time the Nvidias and Apples of the world we have their turn too. estory

This commentary is well-written and speaks for the American people with words of caution. I 'get' what you are saying but why do you write such long-winded notes at the end of each poem? I usually read them but this time I didn't for some reason I think a poem should stand on its own merits. Winds of change is one of my favorite phrases and I love how you integrate it into your piece.

Thanks for the excellent review and your comments and suggestions. Most people liked the notes. I like to tell people where the poems came from. You don't have to read it. It's there for those who like to get more background on my process. If you're a poet you love words and I say the more the merrier. estory

That's true enough. I love words. Yet sometimes less is more.

This is a very well written form and I enjoyed listening to it very much it seems like today that people are in search of something to make them happy. What many of them do not know is what they're searching for is actually that empty space in them that God wants to fill and they can't fill it with the treasures of this world. Patricia

So true. That is in some ways what I was trying to say here. We are unsettled, uncomfortable in our own skins, searching for fulfillment in things that are empty. So true. estory

This poem caused me to pause and ponder what have I valued in my life that will no longer be important in future generations. I'm sure there is a lot as with everybody. Thank you for causing us to self-reflect.

300! Wow! Congrats! I thought this was thought-provoking and so well written. You share a look at how our cultural landscape is changing. I really enjoyed your poems final lines. You do a great job of showing the sense of adventure and the irreversible passage of time.

Yes, everything changes. I tend to think there is a built-in spirit of adventure in most of us that works toward change. In many ways it is the desire to make thing better that drives us. I certainly wouldn't want to return to life in the forties. It must be the plan for our life because from the day we born we are changing. Before people do anything permanent to thier body like a tattoo, they need realize time will make them out of style.
Even the seasons changes so why not go with the flow.

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the piece. Change is inevitable, but it is also unsettling. And there is a kind of uncomfortable feeling to us, we are not quite happy in our skins, always looking for something we can't seem to find. estory
