Yes, death can be powerful. A good death can be the beginning of a new day for others who have been close to the one who has passed away. This was excellently written with plenty of surprises and examples of how it feels like to be in a hospice. Thanks for sharing this magnificent story for Father's Day.

What was he dying from at only 58? Not relative to the story, though I'm curious.

This is a very well written story and I do believe that you're right about him not having all his business taken care of and that's why he couldn't let himself go. My son-in-law is a former emergency ambulance worker, and he has had many cases where he had to talk people into just letting him go to complete the dying process. I'm hoping that I have all of my business finished and so when my time comes in, it may not be all that long because I 86 now I'm hoping that when I go away will be peaceful and my children will be pleasantly relieved. Patricia .

Beautiful story! Your pacing was good, and your role as observer/participant was well balanced. My only question was why a man so young was dying, and I kept hoping for an explanation.

This is a real touching story about a father wanting to make peace with an estranged daughter
That hospice worker is worth her weight in gold. I would call that going above and beyond
The brother seems pretty clueless about the whole thing. He may have been able to do more through the years to get father and daughter together. But maybe it took the father being on his deathbed to allow him to let her back into his life. His grandchildren are more than likely mixed race. So there you go, the cycle of life.
