I race Lester back to the house and easily win, but I'm guessing his heart isn't into it. He eats quietly and speaks only when someone asks him something. After we eat, Willis and Daddy walk him home. I don't ask to join them. I hate to say it, but Lester is just too sad for me. He seems to like being around Willis and my daddy more than me sometimes.
Very interesting overall

Delightful story. I quite like Heddy. She has a common sense wisdom that is attractive. Well developed characters and the ebb and flow of the conversation and action carries the story without losing my attention. Esther

Excellent. Great writing.
"Come one, lunch is ready." - Come one?????
I particularly like that you gave Heddy a guilty conscience.
Best wishes.

A lovely episode Gretchen, Heddy is forced to face the same demons we all face, why do we pray for those we don't like? Jesus still died for them, I can remember writing tributes for the loved ones of enemy soldiers, they are deeply loved, beautifully written Gretchen, blessings Roy

Hi, GW. I hope you are well.
I really like the picture you painted here
"I see thin strands of silver that seem to play peek-a-boo with the sunlight that streams through the kitchen window. "
Where was nonni introduced. ?
Suddenly she appears at the end of the story. So suddenly like we're supposed to know who he/she is. I don't remember him/her being mentioned before then. Who is he/she and how is he/she connected to Heddy?
I found no errors. Considering how long the story is that is pretty good. Congratulations on that.
Good job. Thank you for sharing.

This is a chapter in a novel. Nonni has been in the entire book. Thank you for this kind review. Gretchen

Have you thought of putting a cast of characters displayed in each.chapter. That would have clarified things for me since I?ve not seen the other chapters. Just a thought

I have not. But it's a great suggestion. Thank you. Gretchen

It will be interesting to see how Heddy resolves this. I am also curious what's going to happen with Lester now. Great story.
"Come one, lunch is ready." (Come on????)
I sit down on the sand just a few feet from where our house is. (you can omit 'down' it's understood)
