The total amount of the inheritance, makes this a true fairytale dream. The initial paragraphs of the story provide detailed character development allowing the reader to envision the lifestyle of the protagonist. The fact that the grandmother helped women put their lives together adds feel-good inspiration that the protagonist must continue. Great story. Best wishes in the contest.

You need a warning for language on this.
I had to laugh when I read that she must attend philanthropic events and oversee her charitable activities. This by a drunk vomiting and lying on the floor, lol!
"She was everything I was not but wanted to be." Right there is her motivation! How many people are given that chance?
Well, I can see that this needs a follow-up, as every reader is going to want to know if Ms. Sullivan was able to conquer her addictions and fears and take on her new life.
A very engaging story. Good luck in the contest.

I think I would certainly do that, with those sort of funds, one could help many thousands, maybe not all, but certainly as many as you can, with strict of compliance, there's a great organisation here in my country already, well done, blessings Roy

Great story! It moved quickly (between worshiping the porcelain god and sleeping off the hangover) which made me laugh. Thrown should be throne, and the comma after girl should be a period I think. Enjoyed it. Esther

This is well-written and interesting. The woman who first appears is way down the path to drug and alcohol dependence. Three days to recover from a bad night means she is working on ending her life. Her grandmother's confession to having begun her life in a similar manner has a real effect on the heiress and she realizes she has an opportunity to do a lot of good in the world, and she is also very rich, if only she can avoid her life of excesses.
