Wow, I love spending time on the coast, but I never want a body to wash ashore. That is an image one would never forget. Thank you for sharing your talent and artwork my friend.
God bless.
Steve

I enjoyed the mystery of the story told in this very creative and descriptive poem. The rhythmic flow and details of your well-chosen words adds to the overall enjoyment of the story told.

Ciao,

lost of things wash up on shore.. this time it was a dead captain. I like that you didn't explain what happened only that he was killed.

Seems the doctor can't determine the cause of death. So it's open to each reader to decide what happen. Who knows at sea lots of things can happen.

Your rhymed poem reads smoothly like a sailboat on a steady breeze.

I hope you figured out how to upload your own artwork.

Dolly's poems , a member here, for many months used her own drawings .. they were for her series on birds.

The Captain often goes down with the ship and this is a tragic tale of death at sea here Pam, fine rhymes and I wasn't expecting to read this tale from the title, love Dolly x x x

Hi, Dolly I did not know that you were a fellow visual artist. I heard that on your bird stories you posted your own work. I might?ve missed that because I had been gone for five years before I just started it up again.

I?m curious what you mean you weren?t expecting to read the tale from the title

    Thanks for the great review

I would have liked to see your own artwork, Pam. I like your storytelling in this poem. It's sad that the news doesn't tell what really happened - a natural death doesn't wash up on shore. That would be traumatic for kids to witness something like that.

This would have been a terrible thing to witness, or even be close to, yes, the skippers of these boats/ships do take and have good knowledge of the conditions, love the rhyme in this wonderful story in a poem, very well done****kahpot

This is a haunting poem thanks to the last stanza. Before that it's relating a death at sea which puts it distant to anyone on land, but the discovery of the body by two beach-goers gives it that heartstopping little moment that brings it right into their world and sends that chill down the spine. Great atmosphere, good rhyme and meter. Well done!

What an excellent story! We see the captains daily routine (beautifully described), and the unaware beach goers getting a surprise. The doctors tie it together but without much conclusion. So the mystery remains. Great story elements, poetically told. I really enjoyed it!

This descriptive stanza sets the scene from the start:

The sailboat on the crested wave
Is knocked about by ocean spray
The captain's killed; so very brave
So many times, he's saved the day

Very well done!
