Excellent writing, my friend. I am enjoying this story immensely and am looking forward to the next chapter and the conclusion. I'm interested in seeing how the story ends.

this was a difficult chapter to write and make it on point. I wonder if Madeline will stick to her word and disappear or if she thinks she pulled the wool over the ghosts eyes?

Well, there always comes a time to pay the piper, or in this case, the judge. But for some crazy reason, I just don't think the time was drawing near at that time. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Are you telling me that you don't think Madeline will really slink away and disappear, leaving the treasure behind? Did I not scare the wits out of her enough or is she that conniving that she believes she talked her way out of something?

You have really moved away from you usual with this ghost story. The judge says he has to judisdiction over mortals so does that mean he's allowed to scare the wits out of them. This is quite a story. I'm wondering what will happen next.

Good morning, Beth!
I have no idea what I am doing writing a ghost story but here I am in the thick of things. Do you think Madeline will slip away as she promised or is the lure of the treasure more than she can control? I'm not sure myself. Thank you for being so kind and enjoying the chapter.

Good chapter of Madeline getting what she deserved. Of course, she never did anything wrong herself. Apparently, the sheriff had a lot of sins to answer for. Since the ghosts have control of the storm, you should have sudden silences fall and then hear a thump or whatever. Then the storm can erupt again.

Good idea... I could have used you by my side while I struggled the last two days. WRiting a ghost story is far more difficult than I thought and I couldn't get my head around those ghosts. I appreciate your review and your thoughts. Thank you so much. Have a great day!

Just think of those ghosts as you new best invisible friends.
