Oh ! I thought there was another week before the end. Sorry I don't have a six for this finale. Wonderful and most romantic proposal! It sounds that Emma is ready to be a policeman's wife and understands the job and commitments involved. Well done! Congratulations on another published book!

This is an excellent ending to your story, Barbara, and it has been exciting following the journey of your characters. I am really pleased that Emma and Seth are finally getting married and this is the perfect ending for them. An excellent piece.

This was an enjoyable read from start to finish, Barbara. It provided me with a mixture of emotions as I read it. At times I lost patience with Emma, as her prudishness and jumping to wrong conclusions and femaleness in general, which contributed to her way of thinking, was frustrating to me, being a man. In the immortal words of Henry Higgins, "Why can't a woman be more like a man?"
But, of course, as Seth pointed out with his Oscar Wilde quote, "Women are made to be loved, not understood." That's just the difference between the sexes, and as frustrating as it must be for both sexes, that's just the way it is. Men are from Mars and women are from Venus after all.
All that said, Emma and Seth both were such good people and admirable characters, and I enjoyed seeing how their love grew, as much as they tried to deny it.
The only thing I would like to have seen more of in the story was more personal introspection, which would have allowed us to be privy to more of their thoughts. Being written in 3rd person omniscient POV, you had the latitude to do this.
You often hear the advice, "show, don't tell," but I believe a certain amount of telling, especially the thoughts people have, is often very helpful in getting a fuller understanding of a character's motivations. Some writers like to leave a lot of this up to the readers to interpret for themselves, but personally, I like it when there is a certain amount of this in a novel, because I think it adds depth to the character and lets the reader know how to correctly interpret the character's actions, especially when there is a particular way that you, as the author, want the character to be understood.
I'm glad I read this story because I got a better understanding of what a romance novel is all about. I've probably done the least amount of reading in this genre than most any other, although I do like a bit of romance in any genre--even in a golf novel! But you taught me that in a romance novel, it really is the romance itself that is the major theme and not just a side attribute like in other genres.
I wish you luck with the book if and when you decide to publish it. Thanks again for an enjoyable read. - Jim

Thank you for the kind review. My publisher is already pushing to let him has this book and I'm not quite ready it. I need to so more editing. I the readers to have their own thoughts. I don't guide them into thinking.
