I love this story so sincere and it reminds me how fragile life is and how God sends us help from unexpected places. Hazel, Trevor's mother, came closer. "It'd be no bovver. You must be lonely in that big 'ouse of yours."
Mrs Coombes looked at them all, and tears welled in her eyes. Strange how misfortune can bring about nice things in the end.

Hi Iza, thank you so very much for this fabulous review and the golden sixth star! I'm so pleased you enjoyed reading the story. Valerie's payback on her brother is following in a few days. Warmest hugs, my friend :)) Sandra xx

This is a fun story about boys being boys. I'm surprised Reggie's sister didn't kill him. Ultimately the two boys did prove to be heroes as they went to the aid of their elderly neighbor after stealing her apples.

Don't worry, Carol, Valerie isn't just going to sit back and let Reggie get away with it. :)) Thanks, my friend, for reading part 1, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Warmest hugs, Sandra xxx

This is a great story, Sandra! It turns out that it was good for Mrs. Coombes that the boys were doing wrong in all the right places.
I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

What a cute story. It feels like a British version of Tom Sawyer with rascals like Reggie and Trevor. It's sad that it took an accident for Mrs. Coombes to finally accept the help that she needed. I wonder how Valerie will get back at Reggie!

There are a lot of 'Mrs Coombes around, Helen, it's sad. But unless you are made aware of them, they don't get the help and friendship they need.
As for Valerie, she is itching to get her own back, and that will be her top priority in the next part. Thank you so much for reading my Flossie stories, my friend. I do so appreciate it. Love and hugs, Sandra xx

If my brother did that to me, he wouldn't have to worry about anyone else. I'd give him a thumping he'd never forget. But his naughtiness did turn out to be lucky for Mrs. Coombes.

Isn't it funny how mischief an be turned on its head if one has a heart of compassion, and that's the way things can turn on their head. The lads aren't all bad, despite their sister in the lieu and helping Mrs Combes, despite pinching her apples, I did that as a boy, beautifully written Sandra, blessings Roy

I've had a few male readers confess to scrumping, Roy! LOL It was the thing back then. All innocent fun, but naughty at the same time. I'd rather had the kids going scrumping than going out causing chaos as they do today. Thank you so much, my friend. Love and hugs, Sandra xx

There was an orange orchard near where I lived... I wasn't a good boy!

Lol, Roy, you are not alone. I've had more 'confessions' from other male readers, but none from women. I bet there are some though. I used to go scrumping with my friends. 😊xxx

This is a nice little story of the ordinary angels that show up in our lives, clean out of the blue. The colloquialisms in the dialogue create a great sense of a place and a time, and the details in the character sketches make the scenes come alive. This also shows that while there is mischief in everybody, there is also that capacity to be good. So it is important that you tell the two sides of this little boy; the boy who locks his punchy sister in the outhouse, and the one who rescues the old lady who twisted her ankle. estory

This reminds me of a time when I was a boy who among two others decided to steal some apples from an old widow wom,an's orchard. She sot at us with a shotgun loard with salt rock. Now that really stings . We got a few apples but not worth the slt. I really enjoyed reading this. Thanks, Sandy.

Oh my word, Chuck!! That must have hurt a lot! Did that stop you from stealing the apples? Lol. I'm so pleased this brought up a memory, no matter how painful. Thank you for sharing that, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. It will be Valerie's turn in the next part. She wants payback for Reggie tying the handles so she couldn't get out. Love and hugs, dear friend. Sandy. xxx

Oh, I loved the dialogue of local color. This was excellent. Two boys up to no good, suddenly reluctant heros. They bring the old woman a sense of still being a person and belonging. Still feel bad for Regs sister. Lol. Great story. Gretchen
