This is delightful poetry, Stu Harrell! I so enjoyed the story of the grumpy whale. All he needed was the Frogmore Stew! Can't say I blame him.

Sending you my best today as always, and my very best wishes in the free form contest.
Sally :))

Haven't seen you before. This is well done. This isn't my usual type of read. You do free Verse well. You enjoy the rest of the week, and keep writing, you have the talent, Karen

You tell a fabulous tale in this well-rhymed poem, sharing these adventures while tempting our taste buds with the makings of Frogmore Stew. I had never heard of it, but would be more than willing to try it. Great poem.

Very nicely done and entertaining as well. A bit of legion with the whale and the some sailing Irishmen with their mugs raised high and sharing their stew. Similar to a shrimp boil it seems. I enjoyed it and good luck in the contest.

Yes, it would not be you if it didn't have that toughness to keep the gentleness hidden in side.

Hi Stu,
This is a well rhymed and metered story poem of avenging a lost love and honoring the person the memory of the dead and the avenger. Frogmore stew sounds interesting.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Good luck in the contest.
Have a great day.
Joan

Thank you for your service, sir.

As it's coming up on St. Pattys day I've been listening to a lot of Irish songs...

Many are as catchy and weave a tale with a bounce and a jig, and you've come up with a fine gem in the rough!

I couldn't help but sit here and sing it with a bemused smile...

What's not to love?

"For when he ate the fancy goop
Even just a tiny sip
Archie leaped so high up from the depths
That he gave a mighty flip"

If I had a six, I'd leave it here!

Karenina

Dad Gum...By Golly....you are right...I was humming "Orange and the Green" while scribbling this little epic..."Oh it is the biggest mix-up that you have ever seen....me father, he was orange and me mother...she was green.....So me father called me William and me mother called me Pat"......Have fun and Godspeed to you and yours.....Stu Harrell

When I lived in the Northeast, I went on a fishing boat in Rhode Island. The skipper and most everyone got drunk and the skipper kept trying to harpoon a whale. I'm thankful he missed! Then, the whale would probably be reciting a poem about us!

I read that during the whaling days....the wives couldn't wait for the seaman to get gone.....so they could do the real work of raising the family....Great stuff....not sure if true but fun....Thanks for your input and Best Wishes....Stu Harrell

I enjoyed this poem very much. I liked especially the rhythm of the sea that was incorporated within the rhymes. How good of ole Archie to drive the storm away!

I enjoyed reading your poem. I never heard of this type of stew. I dont know if I would ever try it. The name , Frogmore stew doesn't sound too appetizing. Just wondering, did you ever try it Great job
