A great story that kept this reader wanting more. An easy read that has a nice pace and a good flow.

Thank you!

Thanks Gunner Lil, he did get caught - his friend turned him in for a reward. Back then there were so many robberies they offered large sums of money as rewards. Cheers.

Hello, Mortman!
I enjoyed reading your narrative very much. And it definitely resonated with me as I was employed as a bank teller during my summer college breaks. No hold-ups, but I did manage to cash a check stub as opposed to a real check and was summarily chastised for my ineptness by a cigarette-wielding administrator (Yes, "Liz" was allowed to smoke at her desk; this was 1974) who shouted, "Oh! A college student who cannot read? Fancy that!)
Hadn't thought about that experience in years!
Thank you for sharing!
Best wishes!

Hi Diane, I remember everyone smoked back then - even the tellers - just not at the counter. Very different times!

Thanks, Brenda, glad you enjoyed it. They did catch him. One of his friends turned him in for the reward. No honor amongst thieves in this case, I guess.

What terrifying story, but a good coming-of-age marker. You tell the story with some humor, though you clearly had to have been terrified at the time.
the banks money. (bank's)
Illegal or not, the photo adds great authenticity to your story. Thanks for sharing! Julie.

Hahaha! What a wonderful story which made me smile throughout! I love your self-deprecating humour and could read your little anecdotes forever! And well done for keeping your bowels intact! I don't think I could have boasted the same. A strong contender! Good luck! Debbie

Wow, I've never actually come across anyone who has experienced a bank robbery before, I've only watched the TV reenactment of them, or read about them, to some it was incredibly stultifying, to others, like yourself, recovering normally, like the reaction to a motor car accident, Beautifully written, blessings Roy

I can so relate to this. I've been subjected to hold up five times over a forty-two year career. I didn't work in a bank, I worked in a TAB, that's a Government run gambling shop where punter's bet on sporting events and horse and greyhound racing. I so can relate to your fear. Well written.
