Oh Rhonda, I am so glad that I came here to check to see if this is one that I wouldn't be confused from not seeing the rest of it, but no, this was perfect, beautiful. And I loved your memory, your entire story and how you reached out to others to share theirs.
There were two girls who were my favorites for the years I taught Chapter or Title One. I actually started off as an Aid, as I was going to school to learn yet another career. I wanted to stick with following my mother's footsteps, but I loved taking kids into my own room.

By the time I was done w school I was the head of Title One. Anyway I worked with Leah and Heather for years and every year they seemed to be getting it more and more. I had a special technique with them, which was not part of the curriculum, but my own that was working really well to help them read and learn to spell.

That was when they were in elementary, but they both graduated very high in their class. And they both let it be known that if was me who helped them more than any other teacher. I was invited to their graduations and even weddings. So that was my memory.

Of course it didn't get much better than my mother's, who was the reason that Oprah named Acts of Kindness for Teachers and named a special day for my mom.
Which was after a student wrote in to tell what a wonderful teacher she was.
My mom couldn't go on the show with Susan but Oprah allowed her to bring home a video for my mom to see because she was on her death bed.

And they never allow that unless it has aired. So we got to see it before anyone. It was beautiful and Oprah was crying because of all my mother did for her, even tho she had a family of nine at home to care for.

Sorry, didn' t mean to go on and on but I am pretty proud of my mom. She was so very young when she died but she knew she was going to be with the Lord.

Anyway, thanks for doing this and you my dear get the award for Masterpiece of the week. I loved this, so thank you so very much for the wonderful read!!

Oh, Debi, please make this a chapter in the book. I'm sure everyone would love it read this. Seriously!! What an exciting story to tell!!

Than you for the six stars, they really touched my heart. Your story touched my heart as well. I'm glad you decided to read it, too. As you know, I mostly write fantasy, but I wanted to reach out to a different genre for something else. I, also, have heard from so many people about teaching, or knowing teachers, and I wanted to hear their stories.

    Much love,
    Rhonda

Oh, Rhonda, I loved reading about your time as a teacher, your goals and your wonderful achievements during those 35 years.
I have never been a teacher, but I have had some wonderful teachers in my life. You have just inspired me to write about a few of them adding to this book. A big, hug. Ulla xcx

I suppose we all have stories to tell, even me who taught children's church for about 8 years when a relatively young Christian, my wife was a faculty head teaching high school, it would be good, I know Barbara Wilkey was a junior primary, and she's got some stories. Beautifully written Rhonda, blessings Roy

I would love it if you'd write a chapter in this book about your experiences, because teaching children's church is definitely teaching!!

    Take care,

What a wonderful idea...showing that teachers and their students are champions in their own right. Sharing "good feeling" moments instead of all the sad, dark stories of shooting and terrified children. Sunshine is always a bright outlook on life.

Smiles, Carol

An excellent write, Rhonda, it's the goal of most of us to make a difference in someone's life and you certainly have, and to create a place for other teachers to share their stories, a great idea

Mike!! Thank you for the six stars!!
I was trying to come up with something we could all share. There are a lot of teachers out here, and many, many students.
    Take care,

I am glad you had good experiences and got to see evidence of your hard work. A lot of us do not get to see our work in action. Good idea for a book. Karen

This is an excellent idea. School is something we all have in common, although some may be home schooled. Maybe you could suggest it as a contest. Your story about the boy with the attitude is great. Sometimes we teachers surprise ourselves with the effect we have on others.

Hi Carol, thank you for your review and comments.
Home school is teaching, too, so in Sunday School, or community groups, tutoring, etc.

I would do it as a contest, but someone did that recently, so I didn't want to interfere with what they did.

    Thank you,
    Rhonda

Subbing can be teaching from hell, but I managed for several years. Also taught children in a museum. There are lots of ways to teach.

What a fantastic idea! I am an educator of sorts, I homeschooled my two kids. :-)
I look forward to reading other peoples submissions to the series. I love seeing the impact that teachers who care about their students can make on those students.

Julie, homeschooling is very much teaching, and I would love for you to share some of your experiences with it. There would be a lot of people who could benefit from what you've gone through.

    Take care,

This is a good introduction. You do a great job telling the readers the purpose of this multi-author book. You give personal examples both large and small and encourage the many other former teachers and students to share their experiences.

Fabulous teaching story, Rhonda! I actually have a vague memory about your sharing about your chemistry teaching project way back when. What an inspiration you are to help that angry young man find self-worth and joy in learning in the successes in your class!!

    Hi Helen.
I'm glad you have some memory of it. My purpose back then was to get my presentation spiffed up and to get suggestions. I never finished it as that was about the time I switched to being an Instructional Coach for my district and it took up so much time I fell behind, then lost, on my writing here.

    Thanks for catching the typo!!

    Hugs,
    Rhonda
