Horror is a very personal thing and I happen to share in your horror. Thank you for sharing this with us. I know it had to be hard. Good luck with the contest.
I couldn't handle fairy tales where any creature died, be it a wolf or a demon. (my 5-year-old granddaughter is the same way)
We left early the next morning, (the following morning)

Thank you. You granddaughter is a very sensitive child. I had nightmares over horrible things I heard during the day. I hope she doesn't. It makes you feel you don't fit in a normal world.

I wasn't disgusted in the least, nor did I laugh. I was feeling your humiliation right along with you. Some things just happen, and we can't control them. A similar thing happened to my brother-in-law while touring a cave.

Thank you Yvonne. My son dared me to write about this. He said people could identify. So far it seems the case, but I wouldn't blame anyone for laughing. Two have confessed to cracking up and only one to being disgusted. LOL

There's always someone negative in anything we do. ignore them.

I could sympathize with your character! In my ill-spent youth, I went a couple of times with my best friend to the Kentucky Derby. When it was over, we slept in the car. Afterwards, I had to go to the bathroom in the worst way. We finally found a port-a-potty. I jumped into it, and there was not even an inch that wasn't smeared with...well, it was real horror!

Thank you Jim. You are sympathizing with me because this is a true story of what happened to me. I have an exciting and often embarrassing life. Thanks for the review.

I hesitated to ask if it were true. Now
I can really say I know what you went through!

The squeal of the pigs would have turned me to a vegetarian immediately. It's horror just thinking about what you've written here!
particularly type of agony. Change to "particular"
Beth, you can put me in the category of being "thoroughly disgusted", lol! I think the horror of the story is in the graphic details!
But I do understand YOUR horror, and I applaud you for giving us a different take on the subject.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you, Pam The only way to write horror is with graphic details and I guess that goes for the proper way to disgust people as well.
LOL

Yes, I suppose so. Horror to others could mean various happenings but I get the point. I am reminded, when I was a child, I spoke as a child but when I matured, I put away childness things. When you get 90 take a look at one of my lates novels I am sure I will be in my nineties also. LOL. Good one, Beth.

I say that I'm only sympathetic, I know what diarrhoea is like, it's very compelling I'm afraid.it really doesn't allow for dignity, too highly rated anyway. Thanks for sharing Beth, blessings Roy

Thank you Roy. I appreciate the sympathy. I guess most people know what diarrhea is like. If you were at all amused at my plight, that is okay too. So far, only women have admitted to laughing.

Oh my goodness Beth, this is a brave write. This would easily happen to me! I have been vegetarian since I was 25 years old and I eat particular food and my intestines are easily upset these days. What goes in, has to come out and I empathise with what happened to you. I remember staying at a beautiful small chateau in France and the woman who owned it was also a good cook, she served soup with dumplings and I just could not eat it as it was just a stodgy mess to me. She was so very offended and it was embarrassing for me and my husband how she behaved and made me feel uncomfortable. We have a right to eat what we want and we should not eat food just to please other people.
A well written and interesting story Beth, I loved your approach to this contest and wish you luck, love Dolly x x x

Thank you, Dolly. I did forget to say that I'm still bacially a vegetarian. Now, I do eat fish occassionally. When I was a child, people made fun of vegetarians. Now it is fashionable and considered healthy. Fortunately, my Korean daughter-in-law and son are also vegetarians so it wasn't the meat that got too me. Maybe, things I wasn't used to and seasonings. Thank you so much for a great review.

I agree this is a very embarrassing moment of one's life and also the most horrible one. On trips, I need to eat veggies every meal in order to do #2 so I often buy extra veggie to eat after meals. Then I found laxative, not I feel better.
This is a very creative one and good luck in the contest.

Thank you so much for the review and the six stars. I won't leave on a trip again unprepared, but sometimes even when you think you're prepared for everything, something unexpected happens, and you're in trouble.

I would say you are really brave to share this. I wasn't laughing nor disgusted, I was feeling so bad for you!
But my favorite part about the post isn't the dreadful part. (I hope you always take some probiotics with you when you travel now!) But I love your compassionate nature that you couldn't eat meat because you saw how the animals were so brutally slaughtered. You also were willing to desensitize yourself to get used to what other people liked to eat and liked to watch because you cared about other people.
Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you Helen. I guess surviving that has braced me to some extent as to letting myself get humiliated and allowed me to share this story. As we get older we overcome most of our fears. I didn't eat much meat in my life and it had to be ground an disguised with herbs. Now I only eat fish. I appreciate your comments and I'm glad you got what you did from the story.

Beth, my dear friend, you deserve six stars for this story... at least. I'm afraid to say I am one of the group to laugh... sorry. It was the missing person part that got me. Poor thing! That was definitely a horror story. BTW, I grew up vegetarian. My mother was until the day she died 5 years ago.
Hugs,
Rhonda

Thank you Rhonda. I eat fish occasionally, but not meat. Actually my new daughter-in-law is a vegetarian and I have grown to like her cooking. I don't mind that people laugh. You aren't the only one. My son was frantic when I was was missing. He thought I'd fallen off the side of a cliff.

Awwww, your poor kids, and poor you even more. I'm glad you have a vegetarian buddy. I eat meat now, but funny thing is, I still hardly eat fish. Somehow I never developed a taste for it. I can on occasion.
