Hmmm. I'm not feeling the authenticity in this one. A therapist who comes to a patient's home? Not likely because of the control aspect. Therapists always want to feel as if they're in the driver's seat. That wouldn't be the case in someone else's home.
Then, showing interest in a patient's neighbor? Very unprofessional...and kind of flighty and immature, too. Plus there's that facet of her not being able to read the connection between Miranda and Aaron? Unlikely. That would be a therapist's specialty.
So, I have to pan this one for its setting and the "over-chumminess" between a therapist and her patient. (She brings DONUTS with her? More than borderline doubtful. This isn't a social call; she's working.)

We have a traveling therapist here on the outer banks. She's unique. But I honestly wasn't sure about Carrie's reaction to Aaron. It was purely a physical response. I will rethink it. What did you like about the chapter. Want to keep what worked. Lol. Thanks for your honesty. Gretchen

Oh, wow, seriously?! A traveling therapist?! I can't imagine that ever happening around here, but I'm not exactly in that loop, so I could be naive and just simply mistaken. Now you've piqued my curiosity, though, BIG time!! Google, here I come!
I'm so sorry, but I think there wasn't a lot I liked about this chapter. Even the dialog between the two women left me kind of unsatisfied. The part when Miranda says something like, "I don't know where to even start" and her therapist answers something like, "At the beginning is usually good." actually caused me to say --honestly, out loud as I sit here by myself-- "Ohhh, Gretchen. This is too cliche for your kind of talent."
I don't think there's anything in their exchange that we actually LEARNED, right? if we'd already read the first book. So, maybe that's why it felt like The Department of Redundancy Department to me.
The only advance that I feel MIGHT have been made here is the potential coupling of Aaron and the therapist. But even that leaves me with uneasiness and skepticism. Would someone with all that education be interested in a trailer-living blue-collar guy who's a neighbor and friend of one of her patients? It suddenly feels very Harlequin Romance series or something.
I'm so sorry, Gretchen. You know I think the world of your talents. xoxoxo

I'm glad you felt uneasy about the therapist interest in Aaron. That was supposed to happen. Thank you for being totally honest with me. I value that. You know that. There is more to Carrie than most people assume. Thanks for explaining your thought. Gretchen

You are one of the few people on here with whom I feel I can be this candid. I know you are always looking for genuine feedback. Thank you for that. xo

I do believe that Carrie wants to be friends with Miranda. I think she sees Aaron as a way in. I will be adding details in upcoming chapters. Thanks for the feedback. Always a pleasure. Gretchen

Looking forward to reading it!!

Has Miranda ever had an easy life? Why isn't she a manager by now? Waylon is not her kid, she is dating the law, he, by law should have removed Waylon from her care. This is all most confusing. I am still reading I am involved with this story. I ain;t giving up! :-)

I mentioned back at the beginning of the book that Miranda has temporary custody of Waylon. Social Services will generally leave a child in the home they are used to. Unless there are drugs and violence involved. Gretchen

That is very nice, But here in Texas It rarely is that easy. Karen :-)

Gretchen!
I had to give this chapter a six, and to answer your question, why? Let's say it struck me in all the right places: The writing, the setting, the motion, the feelings, and the pace all fell into place.
The perfection of the ending paragraph between Carrie and Aaron sent it over the top. It was all natural. Carrie's deliberateness in retrieving something from her car worked perfectly.
I loved it! Best, JohnC

This is a interesting chapter that clears up a little I wasn't aware of with Miranda and Dougie's relationship. It is interesting that the therpist is interested in Aaron. I like the way she ane Carrie have become friend. Carrie said something I probably knew but had thought about why I feel compelled to write about my life and relationship. It does help to get it down on paper, not that I need closure but it puts you life in perspective and helps you understand yourself better.

Well, well, well. There's enough unrequited love to spread a whole loaf. Wouldn't it be nice to only love those who loved you back?
He walked in, to buy beer. - You don't need this comma.
Best wishes.

Your posts are always full of magical lines that make the reader feel like they are there with you as these events take place, you have such a natural way of writing Gretchen and your story is a joy to read. A talented and skilful post. Carrie might just be the distraction that Miranda needs to get Aaron out of her hair. Love Dolly x x x

Carrie might be fishing for info on Miranda too. I have my doubts this is love at first sight. Gretchen

Well, I didn't see that coming! What a surprise - but that could work out very nicely for everyone! But what is M going to do about Dougie, and will she tell Waylon what she knows? Keep writing!! Lol.

Thank you, Wendy. I'm not sure I believe that Carrie and Aaron would work out. We'll see. Gretchen
