Oh my goodness. Yep, I can relate to this one. It's the pain medicine. It's laced with cement, I think. Even when I drank a half bottle of Milk of Magnesia and countless glasses of water, I couldn't go for the longest time. Then when I did, I couldn't stop. Seven pounds lighter indeed. Sending you my best today as always.

All the mothers in the audience are going to totally understand this! Whoomp!
You actually got off a little easy, just saying, with a C-section. I had to do all that pushing of the after after birth with stitches all down THERE. So I'm having to put pressure on the stitches to hold them in while trying to let something else out. Thanks for the memories! Totally brilliant poem. Julie :-)

Love the rhymes here and could almost feel like pushing with you. And the rhythm is great too with the stacked limerick. I don't think I've ever read a verse on this subject before so ten out of ten for originality and also fulfilling the brief with the contest brief of silliness. Good luck! Debbie

Oh dear! This certainly delves into the base reality of life in all its ... glory? It certainly meets the criteria for the contest and I'm sure there will be many readers who will both laugh and cringe in recognition. :)

Well you were asked for humour! I love the final line which did make me laugh! And the whole issue of having to "open your bowels" before you can escape hospital can exacerbate the feeling of having no control at a time you already feel very vulnerable. An original conceit for a poem - well done!
Best wishes

Been there, done that. The drama of the afterbirth requirements. Not an easy thing to do, and they said childbirth was hard. Congratulations on your achievements.

LOL! But way to much information here. Much more than I wanted to know. I'm sure many women (especially those who had c-sections) can relate. All in all, a well written, silly little ditty.

... and you wrote the three so well you certainly should be in contention for a ribbon of a prize. You aare only 209 short of tying Edward Lear ...
often credited with popularizing this poetic form.

I had an emergency c section to give birth to my daughter so I can relate. This is definitely silly but the reality is serious. lol Excellent writing and rhyming. It is full of good emotion and imagery. The photo image supports your words well. Thank you for sharing this. Many writers will relate to this. I enjoyed reviewing it.

Best wishes!

Alex

LOL! And just like that I've read all the entries for this competition, and I yours is the funniest. That said, are funny and silly one and the same? Many on here were clever but not funny or silly. One was cute. So, good luck. Poop stories are usually winners. BTW, been there / done that!
