I love these stories about Heddy. I wish my loved one would appear to me like that. As it is, I sometimes feel his presence, or at least, I think I do. The characters are all great in these stories, and you've shown each one individually so well.

I do enjoy the way you have created these relationships, all different and reflective of their personalities. The dialogue too seems authentic as do the activities enjoyed by Heddy, typical of that time. Very well written, as always leaving the reader to look forward to the next chapter.

I understand why Momma is so distracted and distant from Heddy, understandably given her concern for Willis. The comfort that Heddy gets from Nonni, meanwhile, steadies her and restore a sense of balance in the young girl's life. This is an emotional chapter which gives the reader still more depth to the family's background. Thank you for sharing in such a poignant and well expressed style. Debbie

There's so much to love about Heddy. Her heart is so absolutely in the right place. I like little touches such as her Mum's cheeks becoming pink just like her teacher when she sees the janitor. Lovely writing!

I never shared this with you, but my own mother often felt the presence of her deceased grandmother in our childhood home - and would carry on conversations with her.
Rather than frighten me, that thought comforted me.
And how I wish my own mother and grandmother would appear as your Nonni does.
