Really well done, Austin. Lovely use of metaphor throughout. It clearly conveyed the anguish of betrayal. Best of luck in the contest, and a merry Christmas to you!

According to scripture, this is a very true thought. The Bible tells us that the conflict between a mother and a daughter and a father and son will be some of the worst conflicts. Patricia.

Oh, yesss! Very vivid and in-your-face emotional, just the way a betrayal WOULD be felt. I love your artistic, imaginative use of phrases like
shards of sable char
and
Silver chains once knotted our hearts as one, now rust in despair
It's these kinds of writing chops, Austin, that set you apart. You're not afraid to be creative and let your Muse lead you, and you're especially not afraid to do a free-fall with your words. You're so good about being authentic, writing instinctively and creating unique and beautiful writings.
I'm honestly so very impressed with you. xo
