A lovely and most engaging story and one which would appeal to children (and oldies) alike. Sometimes there are full stops missed at the ends of sentences, but otherwise really well written. Best wishes for the contest.

Very nice Christmas story. Very well written, too.
Just a couple tiny hiccups:
tomorrow nights dinner. - (night's)
at your Schools Annual Sports Carnival. - (School's)
Good luck in the contest.

While it will never rival "Guess Who's coming to Dinner" with Hepburn and Tracy, this is a nice little story. Good luck in the contest. I remember when I was new here and My Mom died in August, how folks I did not even know dropped me lines. people tell me who is sick, or had someone pass, and I send the news along because at these moments kind words, prayers, poems, songs, and stories can give us hope and joy. Please add to the new book for Kathy, Bill Schott's wife. Happy Holidays. Karen

Karen,
Thanks so much for your review. Yes, my story will not rival "Guess Who is coming to dinner?" but I am glad you still enjoyed it. Trust you had a good Christmas and thanks for the tip on Kathy , Bill Schott's wife. I read his work quite often.
Hope you have a great New Year. We will message again no doubt.
Take care.

Comment from Debbie D'Arcy
Well, this is a very sweet story, well expressed with excellent dialogue and an intriguing sense of mystery as we wonder what's in store for Sally when this visitor arrives. In the end, what makes Christmas for our protagonist is not material gifts but the excitement of her mother having another man in her life. This is an enjoyable read, perfectly fitting the brief. Well done, Barry, and good luck! Debbie

Great Christmas story, Barry. We all need stories like that when all the world around us is going crazy. This story should do very well in the contest.
