This is as beautiful with your words as it is with your art.
Unfortunately before Halloween is over, this is what much of our land will look like. And here it is not as beautiful. Well it is, but not in thought of what it means as it makes for a very long winter.
In 1991, I was taking my little girl trick or treating and I had to use our four wheel drive vehicle as she had to fight the snow for each house I took her to. Not the safest driving but I went slow. Didn't have any choice, I guess. But it was her last year and I hated to see her miss. Anyway, by next morning we had 26 inches of snow on the ground.
So the gusty winds that swept over the winter garden waited a long time to turn over a new leaf. Let's hope that isn't the same this year.
Sorry for being so chatty. Just love your poetry and art, as it truly inspires me.
Love, Debi

Hi MariVal,
I can go gusty winds literally, or I can feel the winds gusting through the existence of a cold and not so nice period of a life... and the patience needed to fulfill the change to a more accommodating climate... waiting for that new leaf to turn over.
Oh, I do feel it!
First you, and then the leaf will turn.
As always my dear friend, your attention to your craft is exceptional.
Is that a Scotch Thistle?
With our thoughts we create...
divine timing.
Warmest regards,
James.

Yes, that's a scotch thistle. I love it...looks like a star and the color is perfect for my poems palette.

I love your wordplay at the end. Autumn is full of gusty winds and we see lots of leaves being turned all around but your poem gives us hope for the "new" leaves in the spring.

You made me shiver with this. I am dreading those gusty winter winds. Right here on the ocean there is a different kind of cold. It is damp and relentless. Though the view is nice. Liked the double meaning of turning a new leaf. Beautifully written. Gretchen
