That's heart-breaking! Yes, addiction is a cruel master and so many people are enslaved to drugs in our country. They are often homeless and they refuse shelter because they cannot give up the drugs.
Great job and I love the question at the end. They need to find their feet to flee!!

Thank you Helen. Two of my husbands cousins' children had fallen for this lure .IT is heartbreaking to see the parents struggling with guilt ..

As every addict will attest, they can quit whenever they want. This was very visual. It really doesn't have to be drugs. Could be alcohol, sex, porn ... the list goes on and on. Great piece of writing. Gretchen

This choka, Enslaved, has the proper formatting and reminds the readers that the first one is always free, but seconds cost all your money, friends, family, and future.

Line three is not a complete thought. How about: His glance was enough. Ordinarily I would not mention it, but it is for a contest. It is a strong clear poem, and the picture is perfect. Karen

Congratulations on your big 300 Milestone Post, Santha!!! YAY! You and I are so close together on them. I just had mine a couple weeks ago.
So I am also getting a lesson in the real way a Choka is done. And who would have thought I would start with another master such as you, Santha!!! This is wonderful! What an intriguing Choka poem. And what a story it tells. It gives me chills picturing this drug dealer who I know so well. Let me explain that sentence. Mine was my doctor. Twenty years ago pushed the opioids for my pain. Not good!
Same results as a street deal. Same addiction, same craving to increase and same horrible downer trying to rid myself off of them. Only difference was no jabs. Drug free now for five years.
Is a Choka always fiction or can it be non-fiction? Anyway I do love it and can't wait to try the free verse and serious one, such as yours. I shared my experience to let you know what your verse did for me. It put chills down my spine. What a wonderful post, my friend! Awesome job!

The author's words are alarming, concerning and creative. I pondered on
these words and thought about what it is like to be enslaved! The
author's description of this scene is frightening. The poem flows and
connects well. The artwork is perfect and goes well with these words.
Great Poem, Sanku!

Apparently that is one way it starts. And once is enough to get hooked.
However, it isn't as if the harm drugs do isn't known by everyone. Still, it is sad. I imagine your well-worded poem is a warning, which is good.

Congratulations on your 300-milestone post. This is a great post to make this milestone. The artwork, the poem, the coloring all fit together to make this a perfect presentation. I feel the coloring fits the mood of the poem perfectly.

A-1 for the artwork and the Cholka. I do suggest the font selected needs to be bolder or the background lighter. For me, it seems lacking in contrast.
Good luck.

Fine artwork here and this must be referring to a drug dealer maybe who supplies pills for an addict who cannot stop the cycle of addiction, a poignant write, congratulations on your 300th post, love Dolly x
