Wow, I had to read it twice. You would think the title and picture would be really good clues! This was tender and thought-provoking. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Anything can offer up memories if we are so inclined. I enjoy your work. Karen

This is really good, as the theme of opening a phone directory draws up many memories from the memory bank.

This is original and relatable so I wish you much luck with the voters. :)

This is a lovely flash fiction. Sometimes we forget how powerful memory is. In this case just opening a phone directory populates a room with so many people that are wonderful memories. Very well written with no errors.

Memories are so important to keep. We can revel in them over and over. What a clever way to show your memories by using a telephone diary. You made them all come alive. I thought for a moment they had entered to room.

Thanks for the review. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, memories are important and I am always surprised when they just pop out from old books, photo albums etc. And of course, telephone diaries.
    Take care.

I can certainly relate to your flash and the memories that pop up at the oddest times. It could be food cooking, certain clothes, or a song on the radio, even a telephone diary. Sending you my best today as always, and best wishes for the upcoming contest.

Thanks Sally for your review. Yes, there are many triggers around that get the memories flowing. It is quite surprising where they can spring from. Have a great day and thanks for the best wishes.

Hi, Barry!

I sincerely enjoyed this read. Your reveal at the end was perfectly placed and didn't disappoint.

If I had to mention one thing to enhance the reveal further, it would be to omit: "but all good things must end."

It's just a thought! Best, JohnC

This is a well written flash story and a strong contest entry.

In a limited number of words you were able to not only tell a complete story but leave a lingering sentiment~

memories of loved ones ebb and flow without warning~ enjoy them.

Thank you for this offering and good luck in the contest!!

I could see the ending coming, but no matter. It's a great piece, economically contained in so few words and reminding us of the power of memory as it works in our minds. Well done and good luck in the competition.
