To me, I steer clear of anything that's new and requires assembly! This was funny and light-hearted, and I appreciate and envy your calm disposition.
I hired lawn people long ago, Mary! This is a great piece! Best, JohnC

LOL, Mary, what a very funny accounting of your adventures in moving and weed management. I love the way you described your neighbors. Maybe you could have set up lawn chairs and charged a fee for them to watch...just a thought. A very wise decision to go with a landscaper next year. Well done. Terry.

Nicely written.
Your lawn sounds like the delight of the neighborhood. I think I would consider moving to a condominium where the lawns are maintained professionally, that, or move to the forests and have no lawn at all.
Best wishes.

Hello Mary,
this was so funny. I know that sometimes taking the time to read the directions can be time consuming, but it usually is a good idea. An even better idea is to read the reviews I suppose, but since you've already bought it, I guess it's a moot point. I bought a light weight lawnmower a few years ago, thinking my wife could mow the lawn in my absence, but apparently she can't, or she's convinced herself she can't. In any event, now that I'm home in the summers, the job will fall to me until I can't do it any more, then I guess I'll hire someone. Thanks for an entertaining read gal.
Have a blessed evening.

Mowing the lawn is hard work. When I had a home sometimes my exhusband did it or he hired gardeners. I understand why you would consider hiring one.
Well done describing the challenge.

Oh dear. What a torrid tale of mishaps and misfortune. You force the reader to feel for your predicament with your humorous and entertaining writing. Well done. I think definitely invest in someone to do it all for you, if the price is not prohibitive.

Mowing a lawn is hard work, as you are finding out. You need a weedwhacker to cut the edges, and a leaf blower to remove debris from the driveway, unless you don't mind sweeping. I'm tired out just reading your lawn mower experiences. Yes, next year, hire someone. As seniors, that's what me and my husband had to resort to.

This is really amusing that the neighbors can out to watch and critique your mowing. I would have thought the fire with mower would be the excess gas buring off. I bought a lightweight easy to use lawn mowere. It has a rechargable battery and doesn't use gas. I don't why hitting a rock would cause a fire.

Thank you Beth for your review. I appreciate it. I do not know either but it was spectacular and noisy with smoke and sparks shooting out.
Best wishes,

Love your humor, Mary! I'm wanting that "Amazon Jungle tour" instead of a neatly mowed lawn. We got a battery-powered mower but I haven't offered to mow the lawn like you, dear brave soul! And shame on those neighbors critiquing your mowing instead of offering to help!
Anyway, please stay safe. I was so worried when you said Harvey put those oily paper towels in the recycle bin - I had visions of a fire!

Thank you for the review and I am glad you enjoyed it. As a former commercial fire underwriter, I took the towels out and put them in the bucket.

Good for you! I'm impressed!
By the way, how is your husband doing? Is the Huntington's really confirmed by a second opinion?
-
He had an MRI brain scan and it showed no abnormalities. So yesterday they took blood for a generics test. We are waiting the results.
Thank you for asking.
-
Praying that your husband doesn't have the gene for Huntington's! 🙏🙏
