Ava certainly seems to understand these horses and knows how to treat each one as a unique individual. And she doesn't just rush ahead with any old name but considers each one carefully.

I have really enjoyed reading this even though I know nothing about horses.
Besides, I was wondering what exactly a flake was in this context.
I loved the one-sided (almost one-sided, the animals also did their bit) dialogues, the great use of the first person and your sense of humour.
