I like that you talk of our FanStory friends. It is amazing that someone you have never met can come to feel like such a close friend. I think in some ways these people know us even more that friend we may around us regularly. The written word really tells the true essence of what a person is really like. I thought this was a great entry for the friend contest but I don't see where it is entered in the contest.

Good morning my sweet friend, Beth. You are right it is not in the contest. I wrote it for the contest, but as I got further into it, I realized that I could not write the story the way I wanted to without being obvious of who I was.
I wrote that in author's notes, but those notes are so small that Imiss them half the time too. Anyway, I wear my heart on my sleeve and everyone who knows me, knows that I am that way. If you don't mind I would like to tell you a little more about myself.

I didn't come here by my own accordance. After saying the same prayer every morning, asking for God to let me be a blessing to everyone I came in contact with that day, He led me to FS. And I have been posting affirmations and other positive poetry since day one. And then it didn't take long and I realized that God had a sense of humor because I realized that as I was trying to be a blessing to others, I was the one being so abundantly blessed.
As much of my earlier posts revealed, my childhood was wiped out by my molesting godfather who threatened something bad would happen to my dad if I ever told. So I lived in fear and anguish and became ill early on. I wasn't relieved of these burdens until the man died and then I told my dad and family. By then I was almost 50. So with much therapy and being born again, I had to make a commitment to myself to appreciate and learn to truly love and trust again and I believe you and all my other friends here are my reward for being loyal to why God sent me here. Also for the fact that I missed out on so much early on, I committed to not wasting a minute of what time I have left here on this earth. Sorry for being so long winded, but you and I didn't meet right away when I came, but so happy we have in the last six months or so. And I am so happy that we have. You are right that we know each better than those at home. I think that God has planned it that way and put us in the path of just the right people at the right time.

Thank you Debi, for sharing all that. I do remember reading how you were molested by your Godfather and how you weren't allowed to tell.This horror happens to so many innocent children. My mother's half-brother and also her brothen-in-law made sexual advances toward me and I did tell but it was hard for my mothre to believe. Thankfully in didn't continue but even then I felt violated. I can imagine what you life must have been through. Prayer also brought me to FanStory and the YMCA and many other things I needed in my life. God comes through when we ask. I wrote a story for the firend contest too and realized I had to go back and take out things with would have indentified me.

Thank you for sharing all of this. I do remember reading about you Godfather and his threats if you told. Too many girls live with this horror, Most of us have had men do things that leave us feeling violated. I cane to fanstory after prayer to. God always comes through, when we ask.
I also wrote a story for the friend contest and had to go back and change things to disguise my idenity.

Hello Debi,
this is a delightful post honoring your friends, wherever they may be. I didn't know Jan well, but I did follow her. She had a heart for vets and frequently wrote about them. Yvonne and her spoke daily, and I know that Jan's passing has left a major hole in her heart. Just today I lost a friend that I've known since the early seventies. Thank God for good memories. Thanks so much for sharing this gal.

Thank you Tom. We have met only a few times but I consider you a friend.
I do know how hard this was on Yvonne, as they had been friends for so many years. Jan and I had were very good friends for about the last year and a half and talked a few times a week on the phone but numerous texts or PMs a day. She was a very special friend to me as well, so I can only imagine how hard it had to be in Yvonne. I am sorry for your loss as well, Tom. I find it so easy to care about people here.

Awwww, Debi, you are so very special, and you are once of the glues that hold us together. You work tirelessly to support our work, and to post your own as well. I don't know how you do it as you have challenges of your own.

I was just telling my adult so about how this site has changed lately, and how everyone here is one big family. He was glad I'd made it back here and to a place where I had so many friends!!

Also, you're not so clever that we didn't figure you friends out. They are ours, too!!!
