What a lovely story and an amazing adventure for both you and the turtles.
Nature surely is underestimated quite often I feel.
A selfless act to preserve another species can definitely bring forth much reward.

You are right. We underestimate the intelligence of many creatures.

I found this story extremely moving and very well written. It was also very informative as I had no idea that turtles would be able to recognize a voice, nor that they had such distinctive features. The mutual and reciprocal love was a joy to think about. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story.

What a darling little turtle, and what an interesting true story of your kindness and connection to the animal world. You wrote the story in an engaging manner which was really captivating. I once went swimming at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and a green sea turtle kept me company for a while - it was truly magical.

They are wonderful little creatures. Very sociable. I once had a house turtle that ate and slept with the cats. She loved me playing the organ, and watched figure skating during the Olympics. She answered to her name. Thanks for this wonderful review and stars!

Turtles as pets. I never knew that was a thing. I like the fact that you dig up the eggs to make sure the raccoons don't get too much cholesterol. Lol. This was a fun story. Thank you for sharing. Gretchen

You did a great job, Yvonne, with your story.
The picture was adorable. I admired you raising
the turtles from eggs--what dedication. Turtles
are amazing, and you gave readers some great
examples of that behavior. I'm thrilled the little turtle
remembered your voice--it knew it was home.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

What a heart-warming story about turtles and their own special characteristics -its most interesting that they recognize the timbre of the human voice.

Love it! Love it! This is a wonderful tale that makes me feel good. I admire turtles, they have been around for so long and are interesting creatures. I like how your turtle responded to you and how they each have unique markings. I enjoyed reading your story.

That's amazing, Yvonne! I never think of turtles, or tortoises had personalities. But I don't know why I'd think that, most creatures do. That must have warmed your heart when the little turtle, after hearing your voice and his head came out of his shell, that was really incredible. I loved this, my dear sister. Well done! Love and hugs, Sandra xx

Learning from you. I had no idea they would respond this way. My kids always painted them with special marking on their backs so when they came back, they would know their names, Good one, Arkie.

You raised these turtles from eggs, how wonderful is that. It is a pity that the dogs got in and caused havoc, I enjoyed your endearing story Yvonne, and the turtle recognised your voice, you brought a tear to my eye, love Dolly x x x
