Why, oh why do women stay in an abusive marriage?
Men haven't changed from the time they dragged their women by the hair outside their cave! Good men are pure gold. Most think only of 'the little woman in the bed or kitchen.' In Oz abuse is on the rise. No wonder so many women are in the hospital! K xx

Shingle is a shocker. We vaccinate for it. We have a post-op look at the eye 5 days after. K xx

Yes, we have the shingles vac. But they don't work on me.. My lupus rejects almost everything so its a pain in the behind,... .

My dad had shingles and in those days there was nothing to prevent or help.
He was covered in calamine lotion to stop the itching! Love, Kay and Benny dog.

very powerful and moving poem about abuse, abortion, cruelty and death. What a tragic love story of two people who should not have been together and the abuse she suffered

This is such a beautifully written and descriptive poem about a very sad subject, Debi. Your poor friend--what she went through and the ultimate price she paid for it. I hope your annual attempt to bring this subject to light will have some effect on women and convince them not to stay in abusive relationships. They don't ever seem to improve no matter how many chances are given. Jim

Thank you Jim. Your kind and compassionate comments mean more than you could possibly know. I know she would appreciate it so much too. I heard from one person that told me that she sent my poem to some of her friends who were also in abusive relationships and one is committing right now as we speak to get out. Paula (that is her real name) I used Jane, as in Jane doe because if her kids saw this I didn't want them to know this.anyway, she would be rejoicing. Thanks again my very dear friend.

This poem carries a powerful and emotive tone taking us into this tragic experience. With the strong imagery conveyed in your words, you offer the sense of pain and suffering endured, and the desire for freedom from this experience. I'm sorry for your loss, and thank you for sharing her experience as she wished it.

Hi there Veronica. I see that you are new here so I just want to take a minute and say, Welcome. I know you will love it here as the rest of us do. I read a little about you in your profile and it says a lot of what mine does, that I have been interested and writing since I was 8 years old. Thank you for this lovely review for her poem and I appreciate all the kind words. I know we will be good friends! If you ever need anything, I would be happy to help or answer any questions. Thanks again my sweet friend,

To many are victims of this. When life means nothing, then nothing exists. Life is what it all about. Jesus said it better than anyone. "I have come to give your life and that you may have it more abundantly. So sad about your friend.

Oh, honey! What a beautiful, difficulot task you've taken on. But what a wonderful cause to fight for - freedom from abuse. It comes in so many forms, doesn't it.
Keep shouting it out, Debi. Let the world know.
Blessings,
Deb

I get it. Not from my own experience but because of my oldest girl. She was married to a walking nightmare for nine years. NINE. She tried to leave so many times... It's amazing how monsters can morph into men of love and valor when they feel their victim is getting strong enough to walk away. It breaks my heart, all the time she lost. He wouldn't allow he to attend school or church because some guy might look at her. He wanted her to gain weight so she didn't feel attractive. He was abusive to her and her boys, so the oldest, a girl, would step in between his fists and her brothers or mom. They are all broken because of one madman.
Not that I'm bitter, of course... God has made sure he never steps in front of a vehicle any of our clan drive. Good thing. I'm not sure what would happen. (That's not true, of course. That's Texas bravado. We'd stop. Or maybe just tap him lightly with our fender...)
anyway, write on, my friend. Carry the torch for those who can no longer do it for themselves, be they living in hell or passed on to a better place.

I have watched my daughter go thru cancer, losing 7 babies in a row and much heartache after her boyfriend of 4 years was killed in a car accident in the fog when he left our house. If I had to deal with a situation for her like that, I am not sure I could survive it. I guess you do what you have to, but I am known to my children as Pollyanna. The little Smart Alecs did that to be little shits when they were teens, not as a compliment. They thought mom was a push-over, Little did they know that when the mama bear comes out, it is not pretty. How did you hold it together for all that time, my dear friend? I hope she is out of that relationship now. God never meant for marriage to last thru that unless there is repentance. I am so sorry for that with your daughter. And I am praying that she and her kids (and you) are happy now. God Bless you my sweet friend.

Hi Debi, this is a devasting story and is filled with high emotions. Abuse comes in many forms. Abortion is very personal and complex. Only God can/will judge on Judgment Day. Xo. M

How sad that these things happen, but I am convinced that every story, every poem, helps raise awareness of these issues and may help prevent others from falling into the same trap. Well done, Debi.

What a terrible story in a poem. You have captured her despair very well and it is right to speak up against abuse, and call it out. Hope your message is widely heard. Well done.
