Jack Daniels has great appeal here too. And I'm so glad you shared this with us. The one thing one needs to hear is the success of certain groups of immigrants to one's country, I know here they gphave have brought great diversity to our nation, beautifully written Brett, blessings Roy

I truly enjoy learning things on FanStory. I have a son-in-law who is from Tennessee and he drinks Jack Daniels whisky. Your chapter is well-written. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

I is interesting that a slave was the one to teach Jack Daniels how to distill the whisky that turned out to be the label is the popular brand in the United States. This is the history of the product and you plan to turn this into a novel. I'll be anxious to see where this goes.

I've heard of the home of Country music, and the Grand Ole Opry, Graceland, and the Blues on Beale Street, are featured over in Memphis, and even the town of Lynchburg, but not Nathan "Nearest" Green.
I can't wait to read more. I'm here for the long run.

What an excellent piece flawlessly written (not a single error) recounting a fascinating story about this man Nathan "Nearest" Green. I am so pleased he finally had the recognition he deserved because at the start I thought he might have got lost in the history of Jack Daniels with someone else taking the credit. Your prose is stacked full of interesting detail, researched well and skilfully conveyed to the reader. Thanks for sharing. Debbie

Very interesting story. I do not drink at all and have never had Jack Daniels, but have known of it since I was a child. I never knew it was so much better than other whiskeys. I guess that's why it is so popular. It is interesting that charcoal is used to filter so many things, but I have heard this before. Just seems like everything would turn black. Yuck. Well done and interesting bit of history about a slave who was responsible for the best whiskey.

When you say that a county is dry, do you mean that you are not allowed to drink alcohol there? If so, I had no idea some counties did that. I l know nothing about whiskey except to say it is a strong liquor that I would avoid, but I enjoyed reading the history here Bret, a well researched post, very interesting, love Dolly x
